One has to see this Indigo-XL can be sold without following extra Items:

- No DVD entertainment(2 LCD displays and one DVD player)
- No Bluetooth stuff
- No car phone stuff
- No freezer in Glove box
- NoFine-Leather seats
- No Alloy wheel + tubeless tires

BTW, Do the Dicor costs 7.35 with all these added ?

My hunch :Are Tata's waiting for Logan/Swift to be launched, so that they can Launch Indigo without about stuff at a price lower than Logan/Swift. Remember Logan-Designer has eariler said that their Logan will be cheaper than Indigo

FYI, This is not the regular Indigo .. its a stretched version of the Indigo which was Up until now called the Indigo LWB. I dont understand why we are comparing this with Logan.... Why dont you guy's start to compare the regular entry level indigo (if launched with a Dicor Engine) with the DCi Logan .... that would make sense ....

Yup the LWB indigo will compete with the verna, fiesta, honda city, aveo etc.

The LWB dicor[70 bhp] VS The fiesta 1.4[68 bhp] would be an interesting battle. The dicor would be no match for the verna crdi performance but may offer a lot more goodies for around the same price. This should be an interesting battle as well.

What I said(or intended to say) is the DICOR in normal Indigo(or Indigo XL without steroid-accessories) only. sorry for the miscommunication

BTW - THink we can expect the Safari 2.2 with power seats ...
At this rate, we can expect the 2.2L Safari engine to have 120bhp power and 290Nm torque?

I case od Indigo, the main competition is going to be the Logan... So, they must have given it similar specs...

However, in case of Safari, the competition is going to be the Scorpio, which is a powerful vehicle too... So, they will have to give similar specs to avoid losing out...

There was an ad for the XL in today's Sakal (a Marathi daily). The specs were said to be 1.4L 16v 101ps petrol and a "torquey" DICOR diesel.

There is also ad in todya's Hindu last page on B'lore Edition(17-jan). It seems that passenger seat can be reversed(seen from ad page -- but not sure whether it is really possible in the XL).

That picture was just to convey the living room like comfort at the back seat. Even I was confused for a moment.

Just went thru specs for Tata Indigo XL diesel. It reads

-16 valve 1396 cc Dicor engine with DOHC
-Direct injection, Delphi multec, 2nd gen 1600 bar Common Rail Fuel Injection System
-32 bit microprocessor
- Variable Geometric Turbo charger
- Tappet less engine with haudraulic lash adjuster.
- Better EGR
- Drive by wire technology
- ECU controlled drivability functions
- Close loop combustion, APC monitoring.

All I could say from the specs, is that the current dicor engine even though it generates only 70bhp, sounds like very torqy for the fact that VGT and good 1600 bar pressure common rail injection.

[quote=SUV;356286]70 BHP for the LWB is way too less. And in all probability this is the 8 valve version not the 16 valve One. 90 BHP would have done good...

I agree.70 BHP is way too less for a heavier car like XL.Though TATA may be wanting to plonk this engine into the regular Indigo, they could have detuned it.

This vehicle has been launched today here is an excerpt from Financial Express

MUMBAI, JAN 16 : Tata Motors on Tuesday launched the longwheel base Indigo XL, which the company claimed is India’s first ‘stretch limousine’. With a wheelbase of 2,650 mm — extended by 200 mm over the current sedan — the Indigo XL comes with a choice of two 1.4 litre engines. The car has more internal space and legroom, 6-way powered front seats with lumbar support and a separate rear air conditioner with independent controls. Its seats are of European leather and it comes with a DVD based 4-speaker integrated entertainment system with headrest-mounted twin LCD screens.
A car phone with blue-tooth connectivity allows conversation to happen over the car speakers. Indigo (diesel) prices 7.35 lakh, while Indigo (petrol) costs 6.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Ratan Tata, chairman Tata Motors, said, “The Indigo XL creates its own niche. There’s actually no car that competes with the Indigo XL in terms of interior space, features and benefits that it offers except in the premium segment.”
