Volkswagen has recalled the Polo GT 1.5 and the Vento 1.5 equipped with a manual transmission for unspecified updates. The carmaker has also recalled all MY2016 Jetta 1.4 TSI cars in order to replace the carbon canister O-rings.

Polo GTs manufactured between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 and Ventos built between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 are affected by this recall.

According to Volkswagen, it will take approximately 30 minutes for the upgrade process on the Polo and the Vento and the O-ring replacement job on the Jetta and will be done free of cost.

Customers can check if their cars are among those recalled by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on this website. Owners can also call VW customer care at 1800 102 0909 or 1800 209 0909.

Do they mean 1.5 TDi? GT TSI has 1.2 L engine and not 1.5.
Does it also mean Skoda will also do a similar recall for Rapid 1.5 TDi ?

The 1.5L in the Polo comes in two tunes - 90PS and 110PS, the latter being the GT TDi.

Volkswagen’s 2016 recall nears its final phase :

-Affects 1.5-litre Polo GT and Vento manual cars

- Manufacturing date from April 2015 to March 2017

After the emissions issue with the Volkswagen group diesel cars, the German carmaker had announced a recall to update the engines to comply with the regulatory norms. While the earlier recall was in 2016, the new recall encompasses Volkswagen Vento and Polo GT cars which have the 108bhp diesel manual setup manufactured between April 2015 and March 2017.

The new recall aims to make necessary updates to the new set of engines. While the carmaker hasn’t commented on the exact issue that has led to the recall, since it is a software update, it might be pertaining to the emission levels.
