I definitely don't like the front facia, the twin kidney grill and head lights done jell well. Also chrome around the grill is too loud. I prefer the angel eyes.

Love the rear. I generally do not like the design direction the kidney grills are taking by getting larger vertically on all their new launches. The new X3 and X5 have both done this. Thought it was an SUV thing but even the 3s grill is also looking larger vertically. Which actually contradicts the flatter sleeker headlight design I agree as I think someone suggested.

Autocar drove the new 3 series in Portugal, here are the first drive impressions :

This really looks impressive. The new look, especially more Chrome is said to be done with China in mind, but may work here too. Only it's not to my liking :Shockked:

All in all, the fresher design and better engines will surely put this 3 series back into contention in the category.

Overall the ACI test looks impressive. Some how cannot come to terms with the over grown kidneys and also the rear looks Japanese now.

Estimated price of 55 lakhs? That will be close to an eye popping 70 lakhs on road for the range topper. That is almost 5 series territory.

A very distinct improvement over the rather staid designs BMW has been dishing out. The horizontally elongated kidney grille..well, doesn't really strike me as too nice. M-B has had these guys for breakfast with their new designs for quite a while now.

I always look at a new M-B much longer and longingly more than I do at a Bimmer nowadays. And this is a BMW "fan boy" speaking, in the sense if I could ever be a fan of a car company because it makes my favourite sport sedan..the BMW M5.

And then there is my neighbour's approx. 18 month old C class parked next to their E. Those Mercedes-Benzes are like 2 really pretty girls plucking my heartstrings <silly grin>. Always happy to eyeball 'em. :D

Let me see what happens when I see the new 2019 3 Series in the flesh..err..metal. But BMW has taken a step in the right direction.

Not sure about the rear space, rest everything does look nice. Had a first-hand experience of Reverse Assistant on the new X5 and it works with charm :)

In standard form, d the 2019 3er is bigger than a 5 Series (E39) and not much smaller than a 5 Series (E60), but this long-wheelbase derivative is even larger

Sleeker, sportier and bigger than its predecessor, the seventh generation BMW 3 Series is a whole lot classier and more technologically superior.

Measuring 4,709 mm in length, 1,827 mm in width and 1,441 mm in height, the all-new BMW 3 Series is 76 mm longer, 16 mm wider and 1 mm taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase, at 2,851 mm, has increased by 41 mm.

Interior highlights include BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that responds to “Hey BMW” - a first for a BMW.

BMW will offer the all-new 3 Series in India in the 330i and 320d model variants at launch. The 330i packs a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 258 PS and 400 Nm. The 320d employs the 2.0-litre diesel engine good for 190 PS and 400 Nm. An 8-speed automatic transmission will channel power to the rear wheels.

Production of the 2019 BMW 3 Series at the Munich plant (Germany) has commenced. India will get it in CKD kits imported from this plant right from the launch, with assembly taking place in Chennai. Expect prices to start at over INR 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
