The price of that C 220d Prime is just spot on, those should sell like hot cakes!

But man, that AMG line kit with the diamond grille on the C300d is just stunning; adding to that those 530d-like numbers, this is a no brainer for enthusiasts especially at a relatively low price point compared to the Beemer!

Truly. But also the gearbox tuning - Mercedes has greatly improved it with time. Am sure the C300's is slightly tuned for more performance (like BMW has their sports tuning for the ZF).

Since when did 59 lakhs for a C-Class 4-cylinder become a low price point, even relatively! It is grossly overpriced and there are no 2 sides to it. The only C300d I'd ever buy is a pre-worshipped one.

Heck, for 59 lakhs, I could buy a new Octavia vRS and a nice used 530d!

Glad they changed the engine to the new OM654 and I hope the refinement is better. The previous OM651, even though pretty strong mid and low range, was terrible when it came to refinement. I have the same engine in my Infiniti Q50 and is the only thing I really dislike about the whole package.

Does the car have launch control?

Man, this will make for a heck of a pre-worshipped buy in 2 - 3 years. All you Jetta, Octavia, Elantra & Corolla owners = hold your upgrade until 2020 - 2021. And that includes you, Ajmat & Vid6639!
If your plan is to upgrade from a jetta to a used high horsepower Smallish Merc sedan. Why don’t you just get a used C43 amg ? Being petrol it would depreciate at much higher rate so probably you could pick a 1-2 year older used C43 for the same price as a slightly used C300. The C43 has more prestige, 2 more cylinders, way more firepower at 385 bhp, much better smoothness and refinement, not to mention the angry v6 snarls which you will never get in any diesel. FE shouldn’t be too bad with a 9 speed GB, probably.

Surely, it definitely is overpriced theres no question there.

But I was talking more in relation to a brand new 530d - which at a 80-85 lakh on road price point in Mumbai, is a lot more expensive than the C300d at a very similar performance point (ignoring the 6cyl vs 4cyl; or the different segments; talking purely on cost of performance) - especially for those buyers who prefer going for a brand new vehicle than a pre-worshipped.

530i for 55 lakhs - cheaper than the C 300. Now you see what I meant by overpriced? The 5 is superior in almost every way. Sure, there is a 0.3 second difference in the 0 - 100, but it's hardly night & day. And the 4 lakhs you save will take care of all your petrol bills, even at 100 bucks a liter. What's more, there is scope of 1.5 lakhs additional discount.

530d for 66 lakhs on-the-road. Worth every rupee of those 7 - 8 lakhs more than the C 300d. Link to post. I have seen the deal's paperwork. The negotiations are still on . Price might drop further.

Of course, couple of months from now, we'll see a 10 - 12 lakh discount on the C 300d, so the gap widens , but as of date, it is ridiculously overpriced.

Sparking up this old thread but is there any difference in turbo / components of C220d vs C300d or is it just a tune ?

Re: BS-VI compliant Mercedes-Benz C 220d and C 300d AMG Line launched

The official (as per brochure) 0-100 performance figures of the c220 vs c300 is 6.9 seconds vs 5.9 seconds.

The c220d prime is a very good buy from a performance standpoint and a 1 second performance boost is not worth almost 10 lacs more. Mercedes should have added the Burmester speakers on the 300d for that price at least.

Re: BS-VI compliant Mercedes-Benz C 220d and C 300d AMG Line launched

I got my C300D delivered.
Mercedes has provided electric steering, memory seats and powered bolsters and head rest with lumbar support.
There are many features which are missing in the brochure. Fantastic car and very silent engine. as usual rpm less than 1500 when going on 80 to 90kmph in highways. Quick engine too with capable acceleration.
Front tyres are 225/45/R18
Rear tyres are 245/40/R18

Folks, I am unable to find any review of the new C220d. Most of the reviews cover the 300 AMG only.

Please can someone guide me to a link on the pages where it could be available? Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on the new car. Hope you enjoy kilometers and kilometers of driving without any niggles

Good to see a lot of similarities between this car and the 330i that I bought recently:
- 100kmph in 8th gear in 330i comes up at 1450 RPM
- Exact same sizes of tyres - front and back. This is good for better availability of these sizes. BTW, mine came with Bridgestone Potenza S001 whichoffer brilliant ride and handling and comfort. Which ones did you get with your car?

Cheers!

This is the tyre which came with the car as on picture on my previous post. It's also a Bridgestone potenza I suppose

Yes. Yours are also Made in Poland, same as mine. BTW, in the 330i, the front size is same (225/45R18) but rear is wider (255/40R18).
