re: Next-gen Toyota Camry spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 36.95 lakhs

That Lexus face they're putting on most of their new cars is just, what's the word, jarring!

The Camry was never a beautiful car, but it was understated and if you really want to stretch it, elegant.

What makes it worse is the design just doesn't flow. It looks like one of those half-n-half cars Leepu whipped up on the TV show Bangla Bangers.

Spotted the 2019 Toyota Camry last week on my way to Bengaluru, after assumingly may an unfortunate incident. This however shows the rear design. Curtain airbags could be seen, so thankfully they are being retained; and the Hybrid heart continues for India.

That Yaris is also a factory car and they were not amused with me clicking. I was next to it at a traffic light and he tried his best to ensure I have no way to come in front. The Yaris kept cutting me off but I was adamant and everytime we stopped managed to be just behind where the Yaris wanted to be

Someone will probably write it up. Some guy in an Ecosport took photos continuously.

I'm generally curious under what law or convention do the drivers or accompanying vehicles try to stop filming or photographing such test cars. What if the cutting off manouervre results in an accident? But thanks for the super pictures!!

Did you miss my post. Yaris belongs to the plant. Was the support car for the Camry.

The Camry had a Yaris for company who was mightily upset when I managed to side track him and get a clear view of the Camry.

Hehe, looks like we both kept the same poor Yaris chap out of reach and he may soon be relegated to doing odd jobs for the boffins rather than accompanying test cars to ward off fans like us.

Cheers

I read that. Previous comment was my poor attempt to take a dig at Toyota regarding falling Yaris sales numbers.

New Camry to launch on January 18th. Will come in only a hybrid configuration.

The engine on offer will be a reworked 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit making 176hp and 221Nm of torque, which is higher than the outgoing car’s 158hp output, combined with a 118hp (88kW) electric motor, taking the total (limited) output to 208hp. This Camry is equipped with the Toyota Hybrid System II, which brings a lighter Power Control Unit and moves the battery pack from the trunk to under the rear seat. Toyota claims, as a result, energy losses have been minimised, making it a more efficient hybrid system.

re: Next-gen Toyota Camry spotted testing in India EDIT: Launched at Rs. 36.95 lakhs

Can anyone tell me in layman terms how does the hybrid Camry operates. Does this need to be charged daily like EV cars. I tried to google around Hybrids and got a lot of information but I want to know what do we get in India specific models like Camry and Accord.

The hybrid camry, I understand, is not a plug-in hybrid. So you don't plug it in - the charge happens on the move and while braking.
