Hrithik Roshan is the brand ambassador for Tata Tigor facelift

Thanks to Kisna Dr for sending this video in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Tata Motors has signed Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as the brand ambassador for the new Tata Tigor compact sedan.

The new Tigor is set to be launched on October 10, 2018. As a build-up to the launch, the company has released a few teaser images of the car. The images suggest that the car is likely to get revised headlamps and clear lens tail lamps. Higher variants are expected to be offered with dual-tone alloy wheels and a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

The powertrain options are likely to remain unchanged. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine produces 84 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 3,500 rpm, while the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder diesel unit puts out 69 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1,800-3,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.

Hrithik - Do people connect with him? I doubt if he has the brand pull which is expected by Tata's.

I would say this is certainly a downgrade in terms of brand association. Hope this doesn't backfire.

Sedan for the Stars - Really Tata? Which star have you seen driving Tigor?

Correct. I think what their intention was to tell people to come out of their obsession with Dzire (Maruti) and go and buy a superior (according to them) Tigor. It went wrong when they used "desire" word instead of "Dzire" model name.

All these ads and new brand ambassador is unnecessary for few feature additions. It would have been appropriate if they launched JTP version with all these changes.

This is the exact opposite approach as compared to what TATA is doing with the Harrier. I get it that their intention is to attract some Maruti and ford customers but this kind of silly and meaningless appeal just won't do the job. How can one company do such contrasting approaches to selling a car. With the Harrier they are focussing on the details of the product while here they have some silly cosmetics and a brand ambassador with very limited reach for a product that simply needed a better heart.

What's with these cheesy tag lines? Sedan for the stars indeed. I often wonder who is the guy who sits in the presentation that the Ad guys do and says "Wow, approved!". Even the Corolla (which I otherwise like) has a stupid "the one sedan world's elite prefer to drive". Even the grammar is vaguely wrong!

What's worse, both of the tag lines and accompanying campaigns would have involved much meetings, powerpoints and discussions. Not to mention big ad agency bills. Why not just give the job to the first year intern. He/she surely won't come up with something worse, and at least you'd save the time and money.

But then again, many middle managers' jobs it selves revolve around meetings, powerpoints and endless discussions

I honestly think TATA motors needs a rebranding exercise like Nexa. Maybe even a new Logo and separate, fancier looking showrooms. Their new gen products are honestly as good as the competition but a lot of people still associate TATA with trucks and cabs and that stops them from going for their cars.

Why Tata Why? You had some of the most iconic ads back in the day. Safari, Siera, Estate, Telco pickups, even the 1st gen Indica had awesome ads.

The slide seems to have started from somewhere around the time Xeta was launched (what was that 'you gotta be dumb'?). Please change your ad agency pronto. Please!

Very immature marketing campaign. Hrithik Roshan isn't going to do any favours either.

Tata, the Tigor is a great car. All it needs are the Zest's engines. Not these stupid adverts.

Tata targeting only the English speaking populace , what about the hindi speaking hinterland. I have the best one, hope Tata takes it up.

Na chalega Aspire
Na chalega 'Desire'

Only Tigor, only Tigor.

Did they possibly make the car look larger in the last frame. Hrithik is quite tall but the car doesn't look proportionate or maybe its the camera angle.

From the first set of pics of the launch, the folks sitting inside the car look very big in comparison to the overall size of the car. Therein lies the problem, it's at best a notchback / fastback or whatever it was called earlier and not a sedan, not even a compact one in comparison.

It's competitors are more well defined in terms of the size / shape at least.

Touch screen looks like an afterthought with empty spaces around it (similar to Brezza). A set of buttons surrounding it would have made it more contemporary.

Re: Hrithik Roshan is the brand ambassador for Tata Tigor facelift

Even during his heydays we never idolized him.

I remember a funny incident from more than a decade ago. We were a group of youngsters walking around aimlessly in Bangalore's Brigade road (a shopping district and general crowd puller of an area).

One of our friend wanted to have some kind of food (probably momo) which most of us disagreed. He was adamant. Finally he threatened us all that he will scream 'HHRRITTTTHHIIKKKKK' in the midst. He knew it will be embarrassing for any of us to be seen as someone who adores the actor.

We agreed to his demands.

Just one of those illogical brand represetations. Why call them 'Brand Ambassador' when they themselves don't use it? These guys are mere models, acting in the ad films. I recollect several of such ads; Saif in Chevy Aveo, Anil Kapoor in Renault Pulse, Ranbir Kapoor in Nissan Micra, Kareena in Jaguar, Amitabh in TVS Jupiter, Force motors and Maruti Versa.

Do people buy cars just because a favourite actor endorsed it. Calling them ambassador is bit of a stretch, mere models they are.
