Renault should just swallow the bitter pill, make the discounts official and revise the prices downward. Such list prices will scare away buyers from even shortlisting the Captur. Not that it'll do much to the sales as reviving a flopped product is almost impossible in India, but it'll help a bit.

Whats the real point of having an year-long discount. Renault should do the car and the buyers a favour by passing on the discount as pricelist correction. This way buyers can save on road-tax as well. In many states >10L ex-showroom makes the road taxes very high. So a 85000 reduction in road-tax could help save more than 1 L.

It is one thing to make a mistake at launch but another to carry on with it and kill a competent product. Foolish Renault.

Re: Renault Captur gets roof rails, new Radiant Red colour

So, the other day, I Tded the Captur. It was a fairly new vehicle with the showroom and had clocked around 9000 kms. The vehicle drove really well; I didnt have any trouble slotting the gears (mind you - I am now an automatic convert and was dreading the captur's long clutch travel and hard clutch as heard/read in reviews).

In all, it a fantastic product but as others said, it is overpriced. It lacks the basics of Android Auto/Apple Car play, lacks automatic, the radio controls behind steering are fiddly and not so easy to use.

As and when Captur is facelifted, it should come with the above mentioned features along with a Sunroof as standard.

Renault might well pull the plug on the Captur and launch the new Duster instead. Hopefully sometime in 2019. Only that car can turn Renault's fortunes, if at all.

I think the Indian market has moved on from Duster. It was the first one and tasted success. With everyone eyeing this particular segment, it will only get very difficult for Renault. Captur should have been the one but again it doesnt have the interiors and features that have become common in small cars.
