| ![]() The third picture seems to be clicked somewhere in Europe. Others with the red TN plate are obv near Chennai it seems. I like the rear styling, looks like they are going to mimic the styling of the facelift Elantra for this new sedan. |

| ![]() More images: 2nd-gen Hyundai Xcent in dual-tone Thanks to Thameem Ahmed Khaiyum for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page! ![]() The latest spy images of the second generation Hyundai Xcent suggest that the car could be offered with a dual-tone exterior. The new Xcent is expected to get a front fascia similar to the Grand i10 NIOS. At the rear, it has a boot with new LED tail lights. The test car also has blacked-out B and C-pillars, ORVMs painted in body colour, shark fin antenna and a rear view camera. ![]() The Xcent is expected to be powered by the same engines as the Grand i10 Nios - a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine producing 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-2,250 rpm. Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Not looking good so far. Looks like the Xcent will remain a tall compact sedan, unlike the new DZire and Amaze. The windowline on the rear-door and the way it comes up towards the C-pillar just doesn't suit a sedan! |

It will be a huge turn off for potential personal buyers - exactly as it was for the previous gen. And just this 1 aspect might relegate the car to UBER/OLA duty like the previous generation ended up quickly. Such a window line is "acceptable" in a short hatchback to some extent. Simply not welcome in what's trying to be a sedan of any sorts. What is happening to Hyundai design teams since last year...

Senior - BHPian | ![]() If the Aura is replacing the Xcent, that's a good choice in my opinion. Firstly, Aura sounds and fits in very well with the Verna, Elantra, Sonata and Azera to complete Hyundai's sedan line-up. That said, the moniker could've been better. Secondly, all the Xcent managed to do was spoil the good image and brand recall the Accent had in India. It was a good offering, no doubt, but Maruti-Suzuki and Honda threw it out of the park with the new Dzire and Amaze that other compact sedans had no choice but to bow down. The odd proportions (tall and narrow) and the polarizing face-lift didn't help matters either. Let's see if Hyundai does enough to divert the attention from those two! | ![]() Hyundai tried to cash in on the Accent legacy by calling the compact sedan the X-Cent. Looks like it hasn't worked out. If Hyundai manages to up the ante in the ride and handling department then they could very well take the fight to Maruti's doorstep. The X-Cent was never lacking in interior space and quality which Hyundai must have improved with the Aura. Also knowing how Hyundai is equipping its newer cars, I wouldn't be surprised if they top the class as far as equipment list is concerned. Having the Venue's 1.0 ltr turbo petrol would be sweet too. |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's named Aura for three reasons: - Hyundai itself isn't entirely happy with the Xcent's sales levels. They are good, but nowhere near what Hyundai thought (or close to the Dzire). - "Xcent" has more or less become an Uber / Ola brand. - The Xcent might continue to be sold to the taxi segment, while the Aura will target the personal segment. |

![]() So putting a USP engine from Venue into what is a budget notch-back that may soon flop (always a possibility in the segment that has the DZire), would work in devaluing the Venue's credentials I think.

And I don't quite understand your point regarding the devaluation of Venue's credentials. Even if the Aura turbo petrol doesn't sell as much as Hyundai wants it to, there won't be any impact on the credentials of the Venue turbo petrol.
