Really?? Testing a vehicle for 7,500 Kms is supposed to inspire confidence?
Its not a groundbreaking design in any aspect, whether chassis, engine or transmission . Considering the history of its predecessor and its cousins, I’d say its good enough.

Here's a look at all the rivals and their prices for a better comparison.

Aren't all the competitor prices for BS4 models? If yes, I feel Hyundai should have waited till the competitors announced the prices for BS6 models. Else, someone comparing the prices will feel that the Aura is very overpriced. This might affect the sales in the initial months, and it will be difficult to get rid of that overpriced tag later.

Just 30K price increase (BS4 Xcent S Trim to BS6 Aura S Trim) for 1.2 Diesel engine is magnificent work done by Hyundai (wherein many players said upgrading small diesel isn't cost friendly deal). It would definitely have an upper hand over competition in compact segment. Also premium of 1.18L (Petrol to Diesel) for an extra 5kmpl for sure be justifiable for many diesel buyers.

For we all auto enthusiast, with multiple launches lined up by OEMs and upcoming Auto Expo, revival of PV Industry in 2020 (after witnessing 12% drop) is the best scenario we all can hope for.

Well that's toe-to-toe with the Dzire and the Amaze, both of which have an excellent hold of the sub-4m market. I'd be sceptical if this would make it's cut especially with that weird and wacky design out of the showroom. That said, given it's a Hyundai, it will surely have a plush cabin and a comfortable ride with a great feature list which might add a few feathers to it's cap.

It'll be interesting to see how the story unfolds, but definitely it's the weakest link in the Hyundai stable.

A completely new model launch from Hyundai and just one page of replies!? That says a lot about this car.

Makes you wonder what kind of genius decided to ruin the car's otherwise nice design with that idea of a blacked out C pillar. Remove the chrome strip from the boot and it will look even better.

Do both and the result would be pretty much similar to the old Xcent!

I guess both those radical design decisions were just to hide this fact - that underneath it the design is just a minor evolutionary change and not revolutionary change like the new DZire and Amaze underwent!

re: Hyundai Aura (2nd-gen Hyundai Xcent). Edit: Launched at 5.8 lakhs

What Hyundai has done to the Aura is what Maruti did to the Desire in it's first iteration. Which is surprising given the fact that Hyundai's designs of late have been simply superb.

What they have done here is essentially tack on a boot to a great looking hatch which never quite sticks! The Desire too was a similar hatchet job on a great looking hatch design.

However I think Hyundai have been prudent here. The Xcent never really set sales charts on fire so it was perhaps a waste of resources to try to do too much on the design front requiring substantial changes to the underlying Nios - a superb looking hatch I must say- platform - unlike the Desire which eventually evolved into a brand of it's own. I think the Aura will match the Xcent sales if not improve upon.

A standout for the Aura is the 1.0 turbo petrol which should been a strong performer. However I am not sure the engine can quite offset the impact of that bulbous behind!

It's just one miss from what is otherwise an excellent car in it's segment.

Drive on,
Shibu.

Sorry to say but this is one of the most atrocious design statement from Hyundai. The C pillar is really an eye sore. The front is the saving grace and the interior looks good for its class. Design wise, KUV100 still leads the race, followed by Maruti Espresso and Aura.
