NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

Note to mods: I did not find a thread dedicated to NATRAX. Only a post mentioned in Tata Harrier thread. I think NATRAX deserves one. Merge or scrap as required.

*****
New Tata Harrier teaser highlights the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) facility at Indore. I am surprised to see the scale, magnitude and variety of test tracks. Simply awesome!!

- 4140 acres
- 14 test tracks
- Designed to test 2 wheeler, 3 wheeler, passenger and commercial
- Two labs - power train and vehicle dynamics

Re: NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

This test track is a petrolhead's wet dream.

Image no 2: Just imagine driving a small + quick MT hatchback like the Brio, Tiago JTP or even an Alto K10 with good rubber on this track . How the enthusiasts at auto companies (and there are MANY of them) must be having a blast here. Can even host drag races on the straights.

This looks like a truly world-class facility. Thanks for sharing! I knew it was good, but not this good.

Here is their website with a lot more information (although the website's design is nowhere as impressive as that of their tracks).

Just take a look at the specifications of tracks. I'm sure it will soon be a tourist attraction for enthusiasts if they allow us on the tracks on pay per hour basis.

Here is the Natrip GARC facility at Chennai link http://www.natrip.in/index.php/garc-facilities

They have a small facility at Chennai, with minimal tracks and few labs

Vmax 350 KPH!! India should market this facility aggressively to international car makers to do their hot weather performance testing. The likes of AMG, Prosche, Audi, Lambo etc would no longer need to close down public roads in the ME for their hot weather performance test. Here is a full fledged world class test facility with requisite performance measurement tools and infra in place.

Re: NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

Awesome, honestly I only came to know about this facility thanks to Tata harrier promos

Pardon me for silly doubts, Appears new and looks like a govt initiative too. I must say a very good initiative to encourage home bred automakers to come out with world class products.

However i am wondering how is their operations model ? Unless this is Govt spending, i am not sure if a private agency can sustain such a facility.

Re: NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

Thanks for sharing.

This facility looks to supplement the services offered by ARAI at Pune. What will make this complete is a crash-test facility. They should set this up and certification for all new cars should be made mandatory.

Re: NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

This is simply wow! Thanks for sharing.

I never knew such a thing existed. Gives me a big reason to visit my in-laws now. (Wife would be happy too).
Just imagine putting a Polo GTI or Octavia VRS through its paces here. Mouth watering stuff.

Any idea if they allow you to have a track day with your car there?

Those participating in SAE BAJA will be knowing this track as the event is held there.
I have been on their property and it's huge. Always dreamt of taking my car there. Don't know whether it's possible.

Was a participant for Mahindra SAE BAJA 2017, the place is huge and quiet far away from city limits.
Driving our vehicles here would be a dream come true, although I'm not sure if they conduct track days like other circuits.

Re: NATRAX, Indore: A phenomenal Test Tracks facility

An awesome facility for sure and when I looked up the maps, it is situated right there at the industrial belt of Pithampur which also houses quite a few Auto and ancillary industries.

Here's how the whole set-up looks like, when viewed in satellite mode:

On can see all the tracks referred by blackwasp in earlier posts.

Length of straight stretch, where these high speeds are tested.

Like some folks here, I've also had the privilege of being a Baja-SAE participant, in the years 2016 and 2017. Words like Natrip and NATRAX and Pithampur catch your attention immediately.

Awesome place from the looks of it. Would love to take my road car for a spin on the dry handling track.

Nope, honest question.

I don't see why the length of the straight should singularly dictate limitations on top speed measurement.

The Agera RS, did 0-403-0 km/h over a distance of 2535m, which is well within the 3500m length of this straight. https://www.koenigsegg.com/koenigseg...36-44-seconds/

JPM did a 0-400-0 km/h in 3.112 kilometers, in the Chiron. https://www.motoring.com.au/bugatti-...record-108978/
