Should be the other way around - the 2nd gen Amaze might have drawn some inspiration from the Civic.

The petrol CVT and the diesel manual. What will be the 3rd variant?

Variants as in VX, ZX etc I guess.

Can see the ZX badging on the boot of the cars spotted above in Bangalore.

24 lakhs for the diesel manual top end version puts the pricing directly against the Skoda Octavia L&K (L&K costs 25, but with the DSG option only).

Thanks, Yes it should have been 'in 2 variants only", but an auto journal has listed it as 3. Will know more when reviews are out. It is possible as CD has outlined in the above post.

I know it's a bit early to ask, but do you think they'll launch / release a petrol manual sometime in the near future? Maybe once the initial buzz wears off and sales start slowing down ?

P.S. same 1.8 litre N.A. will do.

If true then, the diesel would have two variants as the CVT petrol will be the top variant.

And as GTO said, if Honda shows its greediness with the pricing they are sure to lose a die-hard Civic fan.
I am in the same situation. Using a 2009 V/AT, done 1,47,000 kms and was waiting for atleast the 2.0 litre. I don't want to be using the same 1.8 litre engine for another 10 years. Now, there is no chance i will look at the civic. I may continue to run my car for a few years more as it is still in perfect condition, or look at an Octavia.

When Skoda can give a 1.8 Turbo, why can't Honda give the 2.0 atleast, leave alone the 1.5T.

Honda has definitely lost a serious potential customer.

In simple words, the rubber band effect can be described as ‘prolonged slip in a belt drive’. Also CVT is a gearless transmission in the real sense.
Hi,
There is no slip between the CVT belt and the pulley. If there is a slip, the pulley will get severely damaged.

The rubberband effect is due to the constant RPM and then the slow change in ratios by moving the belt up and down on the pulley.

I believe the 6 speed manual petrol will be launched right away and not at a later date.

Everytime I like a Honda, price plays a spoilsport! Just like the CR-V they will be milking, atleast they could have provided the 160HP variant. That said I think petrol will sell in decent numbers.
