re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2018. EDIT: It's the Mahindra Marazzo

If I was in the market today, the ones that I would have really considered putting my money on are:

1- Santro
2- Swift
3- Amaze
4- Ertiga
5- Yaris

Among them, I am voting for the Ertiga - it is a defenite improvement over the outgoing model.

Edit: Marazzo is out because I will not risk buying a v1 Mahindra (or Tata).

Voted for the Mahindra Marazzo.

Simply put it is an excellent effort from Mahindra. An all round excellent vehicle, especially by Mahindra's standards.

Love the design and the space and features.

The 4 Star Safety rating finally shows that Indian Manufacturers have the capability of building proper vehicles which are safe.

Off Topic.
The Nexon's 5 star rating adds to the narrative that Indian Manufacturers have finally begun to build something approaching world class.

It's Marazzo for me, for being a well rounded and well positioned product addressing the gap left by the old Innova. The vehicles value proposition is very clear- move 6/7 people in good comfort, while being frugal and adequately powerful. 4 star safety is an icing on the cake.

Overall, IMHO it is fight between XC 40 and Marazzo. Both cars have qualities to disrupt existing leaders.

But for me Marazzo is another masterstroke by Mahindra. Yes, the car has its own flaws but as a package its great car. Some people would disagree with me but i think it is perfectly priced in between segment leaders for MPVs.

The number of votes XC40 is getting is quite commendable because usually expensive cars barely manage to get double digit votes.

Voted Marazzo.

Reasons:
1. It's a great all round car that is changing M&M's image from making bouncy and unrefined UVs to a great people mover.
2. Secured 4 Stars in G NCAP. This is reason enough to vote for Marazzo. Indian companies (not you Maruti!) are actually taking safety very seriously.

Voted for Marazzo.
Absolutely VFM product along with a fresh design from Mahindra. Amongst all upcoming Creta competitors, a compact SUV based on Marazzo platform and engine could be a serious threat to Creta.
However, bit surprised to see the best seller "Swift" not even in the top 3.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2018. EDIT: It's the Mahindra Marazzo

Is it the year end already? 2018 zoomed past me, and I didn’t even notice.
The car scene did not get registered into my head at all.

For me, the years become more and more uninspiring as we look forward the the electric switch.
A year full of oversized cars, for the ever growing Indian waist size, and for the eternally blinded consumers.

Voted for the Swift, as I felt the new refreshed design is bolder than ever before, and it simply grew on me. The list itself was so uninspiring, the not so Santro, botched up Amaze, some old international names like the outlander and the Yaris, and the stubby !(mini).

As most have stated, it's a fairly dry year with nominations. Voted for the Mahindra Marazzo.
I am not a big fan of this segment, but I like the safety standards and the overall value proposition. The 3rd row comes in handy when you have 2 kids and 4 adults. What is that name? Marazzo? I mean, voting for this, really means that we do not have a significant challenger or a significant car that came along this year.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2018. EDIT: It's the Mahindra Marazzo

Voted for Marazzo. One vehicle which will challenge the Ertiga as well as the Innova at two ends of the spectrum.

Seems well built and is bang for buck in its segment.

Honda Amaze is a close contender but it seems to be eating into the numbers of other Honda cars rather than affecting its peers.

Santro will take numbers from Eon and older i10 which will stop being manufactured I guess. Don't think its going to dent numbers for market leader Maruti

Except for the newer Marutis rest all are either over priced or are not going to add significant numbers for the manufacturers. And I do hope with BNCAP coming into force Maruti will at least be forced to do something about overall build quality safety.

Kudos to other two homegrown companies Mahindra and Tata for at least making an effort to build safer cars. The Nexon being the first Indian made car to be rated a full 5 star.

Would love to see Tata and Mahindra giving Maruti a run for its money in near future. More competition -> better cars -> better options for consumers.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2018. EDIT: It's the Mahindra Marazzo

My vote is for Mahindra Marazzo.
I am neither in the market for a new car, nor driven any of these new cars. However, based on the official reviews and the latest GCAP crash test results, my choice is Marazzo. The closest contender was Swift. It has a special place in my heart and a real fun to drive car. I used the 2014 car of my FIL for a very long time and unfortunately lost to the Chennai floods of 2015 (revived it and used till this year July). The reason why vote tilted towards Marazzo is purely the crash test results.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ford-figo.html
Total Votes: 979

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ra-xuv500.html
Total Votes: 2626

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...lt-duster.html
Total Votes: 2122

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-ecosport.html
Total Votes: 1362

T-BHP Official Review: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...al-review.html

2014
Car of the Year: Tata Zest
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...tata-zest.html
Total Votes: 2454

Vehicle sales: Flop. Has not met Tata's expectations, did not pose a threat to the Maruti DZire. The few cars that sell now are mostly for the fleet market.
T-BHP Official Review: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...al-review.html

2015
Car of the Year: Renault Kwid
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ault-kwid.html
Total Votes: 2363
Renault Kwid got 692 votes (29.28%) - the narrowest winning margin. Hyundai Creta polled 557 votes (23.57%), Maruti-Suzuki Baleno 330 (13.97%), and the Figo-Aspire twins got 293 (12.4%)
Vehicle Sales: Moderate hit. Initial bookings were strong, and Renault upped the game delivering to expectations. However, now selling around 5K per month - which is below expectations. It is still Renault's best seller.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ata-tiago.html
Total Votes: 2451
Tata Tiago got 901 votes (36.76%)

Car of the Year: Jeep Compass
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...p-compass.html

Voted for the Swift, the simple reason being, I don't like any other car in the list, it just feels like the lesser of the evils.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2018. EDIT: It's the Mahindra Marazzo

Only after seeing the list I realized that it was such a poor year when it comes to new cars; the luxury segment is crowded in comparison to the mass market entry level options.
The Yaris could have been the one if Toyota was more imaginative with its options and pricing. I find the CR-V a good option, but my vote this year goes for the BMW X3. With the new generation, BMW has further improved on what was already a great car.

Voted for the Marazzo!
Appears to be a well sorted vehicle and while unlikely to be a sales hit - it should sell in decent numbers.

Perhaps it's time Mahindra also looked at making a budget hatchback ? the brand is strong, they have an excellent sales and service network all over India - especially in the hinterland.

A rugged tough and economical hatchback from Mahindra should be able to deliver sales of 4-5000 cars per month ?
