Are those two different cars (5 seater/7 seater) in last pic?

WagonR was never famous for its looks and the prospective buyers (many of them could be existing WagonR owners like me ) would not judge it by looks.

This car is expected to meet the upcoming safety standards and shall come with dual airbags and ABS + EBD as standard (just my speculation), just wish that the rumor about 1.2 K-Series with AGS stands true.

Position of this car with 1.2 K-Series might be very close to Ignis in terms of pricing and hence curious to see how MSIL deals with it, not to mention the discounts currently offered on Ignis AGS variants.

It looks like one of those rare examples when the wheel arches make the car look thinner, instead of wider.

The WagonR has three cool looking design in JDM.

Each one resembling a GM SUV.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/inter...ml#post4139804 (The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR)

Even though boxy they would have been cool looking.

This one looks so confused whether to be a tallboy or be a mini MPV type.

A 7 STR version is definitely not in picture. Once upon a time they thought about it maybe. But there is no development in that direction.

The electric WagonR which is currently undergoing testing looks so darn good. Why couldn't they just launch that car as the new WagonR, considering that all the other recent launches from Maruti have undergone a platform change?

If this is going to be the facelift, we can pay a premium to get the out-going model.

Few days back, I was waiting at a toll booth, there was a Wagon-R standing next. What is this ugly car, asked my sister, must be a sure flop. This is one of the most successful cars from Suzuki, I replied, it has survived 25 years and still selling well. Somehow some cars do well despite odd looks.

Looks horrible.

Also noteworthy is ZERO insulation on Firewall. Some more pics:

Maruti should learn from the new Santro that entry level cars need not feel cheap. If anything, this reminds me of the Zen Estilo interior from 12 years ago - except that the passenger airbag and HU slots are not empty anymore.

Is that all they've progressed in 12 years?

Everything else feels a generation or two old, but the target market won't care. I'm an ex-WagonR owner myself, and parents used to swear by the useability of that car - which seems to have been untouched here as well. We had the old F10D version which was extremely driveable as well, and should be even better with the K12B now.

A few things that I can see especially from the 4th snap is -
1. The tachometer is missing! This particular car looks to be the top end one as we can see a touch screen infotainment system. The current VXi has a tachometer.
2. Coming to the music system, this is not the Bosch system found on Maruti cars as of now. There are multiple touch buttons on either side of console.
3. The airflow button is a slider one, looks archaic now.
4. Beige interiors, dirt magnet.

This car will also sell in pretty good numbers. This one looks longer than the current generation Wagon R. This in itself will draw many old Wagon R owners to it. Icing on cake will be the 1.2L K series.

Few issues -

1. The interiors look bland, no they are bad. Very bad. Looks like a decade old interior already.
2. What's with that Christmas tree rear lights? Didn't they go out of fashion end of last decade?
3. What about structural integrity? Is this a safe car even for city driving?

re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

Horrible looks. But I suspect there is a big slice of the population who love practicality, and don't care a hoot about looks (and safety?)

Think about it.

Class leading engine.
Class leading cabin space
Class leading boot (from the added length)
Class leading VFM pricing
Class leading resale value
Excellent fuel efficiency
Cheap to maintain

More than enough to draw in buyers in huge numbers

re: Next-gen Maruti WagonR spied. Edit: Launched @ Rs. 4.19 lakhs

As a current gen WagonR owner, I observe the following:

Positives:

1. Bigger boot space - Much needed. Current one is too small.

2. 1.2L litre engine - Again much needed. 1.2L K-series is leagues ahead of 1.0L. This alone will make me consider this car.

3. Decent interiors with few storage spaces - Today I have to keep my phone in the door pocket, wallet in the glovebox and what not.

4. Neutral styling which looks better than the current one's boxy looks.

5. Extra features such as touchscreen ICE and steering mounted controls.

6. Bottle holders on all 4 doors. Today, I have to keep water bottles in seat back pockets.

Negatives:

1. AC vents still focused at the steering wheel.. This makes the AC feel very inadequate. You keep sweating while the hands are frozen.

2. Integrated headrests on all the seats. I never found them comfortable on any car.

3. Same cheap plastics.

4. Small ORVMs. The current ones are very useful.

5. Missing bits in the instrument cluster, including the temp. gauge.

Yes, the interiors look so dated. Look at Santro interiors for comparison and they look pretty premium for its price. And that touch screen, looks aftermarket-ish at best. Does it support AA or Carplay?

It may have digital tachometer. Not sure, will come to know later.
