Re: Rumour: 7th-gen BMW 3-Series launch by mid-2019

BMW dealership are trying their best to keep their cool, possibly under advice of the new Indian leadership.

Faced with massive unsold inventory of existing cars, thy want to hold firm on the price of the new 3, and potentially only offer the m'sport, and luxury line trims.

Guys - buy out the 3gt petrol before they run out. crazy deals, and too awesome.

BMW 3 Series, 3 Series GT - Benefits up to Rs 12.30 lakh
For those looking at buying a BMW’s entry-level sedan, dealers are offering benefits of up to Rs 12.3 lakh on the 2018 model year 320d, depending on availability of stocks. 2019 model year cars can now be had with benefits and discounts of up to Rs 9.8 lakh.
The 3 Series GT, on the other hand, is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 6.30 lakh, depending on the trim and engine selected. Both the 3 Series and the 3 GT share the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol and diesel engines. The latter model, which has a more spacious cabin owing to a longer wheelbase, has been discontinued in international markets, and will soon not be available in our market either.
The German brand is set to replace the current 3 Series in India with an all-new model later this year.

That's my birthday

Also the same day back in 2012 had taken delivery of my F30 328i.

Im still open to buy the G20 on 21st August if they launch the M340i, but wish the top management of BMW India was as enthusiastic as the BMW brand.

I understand that it is a good ride the 3 GT, but we know for sure that the 3GT model is going to be discontinued. Would it be a value proposition if plonking that much amount of dough for a car that is not gonna be around long?

Is the 3GT any different than 3 except for more space? Anyone know the prices of 3/3GT after discount?

Honestly, if they give their typical stock clearance discounts (6L ++) - it will offset any difference in resale if you hold on to the car for 5 years, and the interest on the money saved will cover a decent amount of maintenance as well.

The bigger issue though will be knowing your car is outdated - the interiors, features, etc. are all going to be upgraded in the new G20 3 series but if you can live with that - then it makes sense.

I know a bunch of people who've bought outgoing models at hefty discounts and they are very happy at the end of the day.

Re: The next-gen BMW 3-Series (G20). EDIT: Now unveiled

So I took a small spin of the new 3 series, it was one of those cars with camo. And I chose to drive the 330i. I drove it only for about 20 mins, but here are my impressions -

Exterior wise it is certainly a bit more aggressive, the M sport kit looks nice. What I didn't like was the excessive chrome around the kidney grills. Wheels again are subjective, I found these wheels to be more like something to be offered on a sportline car rather than an M sport. But then again these are the same wheels available internationally on the M sport.

Interiors felt more modern, with the large idrive screen and the new instrument cluster. The weird interior trim felt plasticky, and looked like something befitting of a Hyundai. But that being said it was definitely a nice place to be.

As for the drive, the engine is the same as the outgoing 330i. Outright acceleration felt largely similar, with a bit too much of fake sound pumped in from the speakers (you can really notice it). Where I think there has been a big improvement is the suspension, it just feels so much more mature. The car was running on overinflated tyre pressures, and the ride quality was great, and so was the handling. It didn't feel a bit skittish like the earlier 3 series have felt, and just felt a lot more pliant.

The steering feel was good, but I felt it was a tad bit light even in sport mode.

After having the E90 and the F30, I think this is still a proper 3 series. Not too large, and fun to drive!

Hey,
Wanted to know whether the M-sport 330i comes with M-sport exhaust as standard ?
How does it sound?

Re: Rumour: 7th-gen BMW 3-Series launch by mid-2019

60 lakhs for a 3 series? :o

I hope the automobile market continues to slump, and the government is forced to reduce their ridiculous taxes, and car manufacturers are forced to reasonably price their cars at a point which is atleast remotely close to the pricing of these cars abroad. India is automobile hell for car enthusiasts.
