Thanks for putting in the effort. This looks much nicer than the one displayed at the GIMS.
I really like the overall stance of the Buzzard.

So I tried to bring some popular Harrier colours onto the Buzzard - the controversial rear 3/4 angle - must say despite the two quirky elements - I like it better than the Harrier, specially in Thermisto Gold(ish) colour and black(ish) colour.

You are being humble, CD! These are ravishing and one of these could easily have been Tata's choice of color at GIMS. The color they had, has been seen on Wagon R and Datsun Go (almost the same shade, at least) and doesn't befit a car of Buzzard's stature.

Re: Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019

What is the Tata and overdesigning some of the panels? I have noticed this with the Altroz as well. A rather handsome car, with an extra number of cuts and cladding. Especially the black part which extends over the doorsill and the complex-shapes tailight.

The Buzzard too. That black cladding on the D-pillar has like one or two slashes on the cladding itself, plus the metal has also a kink or two. The edges of the tailight too has too many angles. It's a wierd mix of rounded and sharp edges over the car. This is unlike a Kodiaq, which sticks to the 'faceted' design theme and carries it out uniformly through the out the car.

The word on the street is that Mahindra and Tata did a design team shuffle where they exchanged a few key members. The Marazzo and Altroz are a direct result of this swap.

Of course I kid. Knowing when to stop (with the cuts and slashes and cladding etc.) requires a level of confidence on the manufacturer's part. Tata Motors is evolving as an automobile manufacturer, and I think with time, they'll figure out the essence of their design language. Regardless of all of that, Tata Motors will very soon have one of the most interesting product portfolio/roadmap in the country.

Have a request - if you can do up a white model with a blacked out roof and black alloys?

Many thanks in advance

I would prefer matte black more. The matte black finished badges look uber cool in white, blue etc. cars.

EXCLUSIVE: Tata H7X to be named CASSINI in India
Launch in 2019

Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019-screenshot_20190319015016_twitter.jpg

Quote:
If you have been following Express Drives you’ll know that we had announced that Tata Motors was considering this name for the H7X based on patent filings in India. We had also said that the Tata Buzzard name had been objected in India, which is why when Tata unveiled the car they specified that the Buzzard name would be only for European Markets.

Tata Motors are considering the name Cassini for the H7X in India. Derived from the Cassini Huygens Sattelite that was developed through a collaboration between the European Space Agency and NASA.

In terms of price, expect the H7X to be very very competitive, despite being in the same footprint segment as the Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Toyota Fortuner.
We expect the price to vary between 16 lakh for the base variant going up to Rs 20 lakh. Effectively undercutting the competition by about 5 lakh!

Couple of design sketches shared by Pratap Bose to show the 3rd row space in the Tata Cassini:

This bit from the above article looks interesting.

Quote:
Based on the Omega platform, which shares a major chunk of its design with the Land Rover D8 platform, both the Harrier and the Buzzard are 4x4 ready. While the Harrier is currently only available as a front-wheel-drive SUV, Tata has announced it will add a 4x4 powertrain to the lineup by end 2020.

The Buzzard a large bird of prey
Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019-commonbuzzard.jpg

like the Harrier
Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019-800pxrooloorkull_paunkc3bcla_veehoidla_kohal.jpg

while the Cassini is a much smaller bird

Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019-800pxmalimbus_cassini_1876.jpg

hence its very unlikely to be the name of the 7 seater.

The Buzzard looks like the Safari, is almost the same dimensions, very similar capabilities, is being introduced soon after the Safari is discontinued and the Geneva tagline of the Omega platform being ready to power an icon something that they usually refer to the Safari as suggests the name would be Safari. If we look at the value proposition too a Safari replacement on Omega Arc would really not have much differentiation from the Buzzard.

This is also a good opportunity to retain and grow the huge fanbase of the Safari and a terrific marketing opportunity so I would be surprised if they name it anything else.

Interesting views from the source: first, that the H7X's production name seems to have been derived from a satellite. Wonder whether they will be able to secure the patent rights for it, though.
Secondly, what seems to be also interesting is the speculative price bracket: well, the H7X will definitely benefit on the price front since it will share lot of parts with the Harrier thus providing lot of cushion to Tata to price it competitively.
If that is really so, then the H7X will head-on go against the 7-seater XUV and Alturas, and will offer tremendous VFM as compared to the likes of Tucson and Tiguan.

Will Tata have similarity/differentiation between the 3rd row of the H7X and the Hexa? Only time will tell, perhaps.
Structurally, there may not be much difference since there is not much space to actually play around in the 3rd row, but they want to may make things easier in terms of the in/egress bit alongwith some creature comforts.

Doesn't seem to be a case of Bird size positioning.

Looks like Tata is working on the SUV #AboveAll tagline here, using the established loftiness of the CASSINI satellite in Space to emphasize the point of being #AboveAll.

Tata is positioning the Cassini above the Harrier which is #AboveAll.
