Re: Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019

Saw what looked like the H7X mule, being tested within the Tata plant in Pimpri early morning.

Are we sure it's for the Altroz or for that matter, even it's for the H7X? TATA MOTORS has cleverly NOT mentioned any particular vehicle for the 4 teasers so far -

(1) Driver Seat back side
(2) Door Handle
(3) Gear Lever &
(4) Gear Selector Knob, Hazard Switch & Electronic Parking Brake Switch.
[The answers have been confirmed by Mr. Pratap Bose]

Seeing the quality of the work, I highly doubt if its of any production ready product. So, my guess is these are not for the Altroz & H7X, but either for HORNBILL or BLACKBIRD or the EV concept. Lets wait & watch.

Thanks for sharing this. Never realised that the Disco had such funny 3rd row seating. It is strictly for kids. I hope the H7X is better than this (much better!)

The exact increase in length seems to be speculated as 62mm. See here.

Tata H7X caught testing with Safari Storme & Nexon before launch

(Source)

Quote:
Tata will soon unveil the H7X SUV at the Geneva Motor show on 5th March. It will be the 7-seater version of the recently launched Tata Harrier and will be launched in the Indian market later this year. Tata has started releasing teaser videos and images of the upcoming H7X, and before the global unveiling, a heavily camouflaged version of the SUV was caught on benchmarking test with the Tata Nexon and the Tata Storme.

The upcoming Tata H7X has been spotted testing on the Indian roads multiple times. New images put up by Haldar_Siliguri on T-BHP show the Tata H7X at the Tata’s private test track at the Tata Motors plant in Pimpri, near Pune, Maharashtra. The Tata H7X will be the most expensive model of the brand in the Indian market when it is launched.

Even though it was spotted with the other two cars from a very different segment altogether, Tata might be comparing a certain level of comfort or other things in all three vehicles. The Tata Nexon is currently the second-best selling car in the segment and is quite popular in the market while the Tata Storme is known for its ruggedness.

The Tata H7X teaser images show that the all-new SUV will look slightly different when compared to the Harrier. It will get a flatter roofline, which will give ample headroom to the third-row passengers. The H7X will utilise the same Omega Arc platform that underpins the Tata Harrier too. However, the H7X will be longer than the Harrier.

The H7X will have a slightly toned down design, and the window line will be different from the Harrier too. The upcoming SUV will get rear quarter glass for the third-row passengers. It should be noted that the Omega Arc platform is derived from the Land Rover’s D8 platform that also underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

However, the platform gets modifications to keep the cost of the vehicle low. Discover Sport is also available in 7-seat configuration and the grooves for the last row seat is also present in the Tata Harrier’s chassis.

Tata has also released teaser images that reveal that the upcoming H7X will get premium interiors. Tata will unveil four all-new vehicles at the Geneva Motor Show this year, and the social media handle of the brand released a picture that shows the rotating gear selector and electronic parking brake. The H7X will be a premium vehicle; it can be safely assumed that the image indicates the interior of the same car.

The all-new Tata H7X will be powered by the same 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that powers the Harrier. It generates a maximum of 140 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm in the Harrier but is expected to churn out more power in the H7X. The teaser image indicates that the Harrier will also get an automatic transmission, which is likely to be a 6-speed automatic sourced from Hyundai.

This is the Tata Harrier . Check the alloys and the rear overhang. This testing might be for different engine and gearbox combination.

If it was a Harrier, why would they camouflage the entire car for testing a new engine-gearbox combination?

Camouflaged Harriers are still being run around. They don't bother to remove the stickers even after the launch. They run it as is.

1. That is the Disco Sport, which is basically what the Harrier is. The Harrier will have the same provision as it is the same platform.

2. H7X is on a longer platform. The storage mode may be the same (doesn’t make sense to reinvent) but the seats could be different.

3. The SE, which may be the platform (probably longer) for the H7X, has remote/app enabled electric folding seats. We surely won’t get the electrics as we expect TML to give us an LR at Brezza/Ertiga prices - which means there may be scope for further releasing more space.

4. Like everyone else, I haven’t seen the H7X and would therefore be reluctant to comment on what the seats could/would be like. My OP was meant to show that it is possible to have a 3rd row on the Harrier but TML has wisely decided not to give us small seats.

5. Since you were not aware of this arrangement on the Disco Sport, nor seem to have experienced the provision on the Harrier which is available for test rides, it might be a good idea to wait and experience the H7X or at least the space on an SE before providing insights.

Another teaser from Tata. Looks like the centre display and body coloured borders around the air vents.

Read a tweet that the H7x might be called "Buzzard", again a bird, similar to the Harrier.

Recently registered trademarks by Tata Motors are: Buzzard, Altroz, Cassini, Shikra, Timero and Kassin. With Altroz confirmed, I think it might be Buzzard or any of the above names which H7x will take. My opinion, all these names are horrible. Tiago sounds so much better now!!

+1

Buzzard - how long before people make a bujjhard out of this?

Altroz- I thought Alturas was weird, Mahindra is outdone here.

IMO they registered the rest just to mess with the ones snooping on their trademark activities.

The Shikra is another small bird of prey. So, it could still be a name to the Micro-Compact or the Blackbird.

The names don't gel though. I guess as the days go by, the names become more familiar and common parlance.

Another teaser, with a view from the other side.
