I see NHC / Fiestas (temp numbers) coming out of showrooms more than Vernas.
abhibh, you are seeing more fiesta/NHC with temp numbers because the Verna has a huge waiting list. I think it's 3 months now. Hyundai didn't expect so much demand. This is been discussed in another thread.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...rice-hike.html

I'm not selling it's the highest selling. But even 1000 units in a month is a big chunk from the NHC/fiesta sales numbers. They are surely feeling the pinch.

The mileage figures of the Verna VGT aren't as bad as you think. It's 1kmpl lesser than the fiesta TDCi which is heavily underpowered. For the petrol the Verna has actually better mileage than the fiesta 1.6. The NHC has the advantage here but remember also costs more.

Same goes for the Getz petrol. It's not doing that bad at all.

The Getz is more upmarket than the swift. We still have no idea about both these diesels so there's no sense in jumping to conclusions.

Even if Swift comes out in february it will not come to cheap which will play into the hands of hyundai who can price it accordingly.

The getz is a very able car which with the CRDi engine will really give the swift a run for it's money.

Skoda will definitely feel the pinch with the Embera CRDi and the new Elantra. You may like the old Elantra but the New Elantra will be liked by many more.

Maruti is known to freshen models after a long gap. The getz will shortly be updated which will put pressure on Maruti.

The Verna is chipping at the sales of the NHC as the VGT offers similar efficiency and greater power.

Hyundai is the number 2 in India. This is the case because they sell.

Even I don't like hyundai cars much but I have to admit there aggressive strategy is changing the Indian automotive industry.

Will the current 1341cc Getz be phased out, with the introduction of the new 1.1L petrol Getz?

Any idea on the specs and the price tag of the 1.1L?

don't think they will phase out the 1.3L. the 1.1L is just to take advantage of the tax exemption.

It will give competition to the U-VA in price.

Has anyone thought about the fact that in all this melee we are definitely going the western way where one car comes with multiple engine options and configurations... all thanks to the governments crazy tax regime

Are ya complaining????

First people say they have no choice. Now there's too much choice? Not nearly - quite a few segments are still stagnant or non-existant.

Price cut on Getz

Today's Financial Express mentions Hyundai has slashed price of the Getz by 21 K to take on Swift in a bid to boost sales. The article does not mention if the reduced price is for a 1.1 L version or 1.3 L (existing version). It seems to be a case of building in the existing discounts into the price itself.

Getz Rs 21k cheaper; to take on Swift

So, I guess, the CRDi version will also have to be priced competitively with respect to Swift. Then the Getz is clearly a winner.

As far as petrols go.. Even with that price tag... I'd pick Swift> U-VA>Getz..

Swift Has many factors going for it... Checked out the U-VA and it is more spacious, and has quality materials than the Getz (i feel Getz interiors and materials are )

As for diesels, let them be launched first... (Reserving any statements, cause i have been mighty impressed by the Accent and Verna CRDi)

Now that India will be the hub for production of the Getz, won't prices be a lot cheaper than the existing price-tags?
