and still sell 1.3 getz for india ,

They can also put the old 1.5 accent CRDI engine in getz diesel for india

Hyundai 'PA' expected price - 3.9L to 4.5L

Source : Economic Times, Date : 30-Jul-2007

IN A bid to increase its market share and further strengthen its presence in the sub-compact car segment, Korean auto maker Hyundai is planning to launch a second offering. The new sub-compact offering, codenamed Hyundai PA, is expected to be launched by the end of the year and help the company maintain a stable market share of 20%.

Hyundai Motor India vice-president marketing & sales Arvind Saxena said: “After the success of our flagship brand Santro, we decided to add another offering in the segment which is code-named PA. We see a huge potential in what we call the sub-compact segment.” PA will come with at least three variants, and is likely to be priced in the Rs 3.9-4.5 lakh segment, right in the middle of Santro’s top-end model and Getz’s low-end model. The price could overlap with the top-end model of Santro, believe auto analysts.

“As of now, we plan to introduce a CRDi engine on the Getz. We have no plans to strap a diesel engine on the PA. A diesel engine is an expensive offering. Santro, which sold 1.40 lakh units last fiscal, commands about 34.2% market share in the segment and competes with the likes of Zen, Wagon R, Spark and Indica. The sub-compact car segment grew nearly 20% last fiscal year.

Hyundai India is in the process of ramping up its capacity at its plant situated in Tamil Naidu and would touch 6 lakh units by 2008-end. “We are making sure that we have the required capacity in place before we launch our new model in the country,” added Mr Saxena. The company is also ramping up its exports and hopes to export nearly 50% of its production by next yearend from the 35%.

I wonder what those three variants would be and what the differentiaing features would be? Wonder if one of those three variants is an auto transmission?!

does it mean that getz or santro will be phased out ....because PA will enter the in the price range of getz ....and getz may become the basic model for hyundai ??

Hmmm, My guess is...

Santro sells only low end models, to go head on with Alto/Xeta.

Pa against Spark/WagonR/Estilo.

Getz 1.1 and 1.3 against Swift and Aveo U-VA

Getz 1.1 cannot take on the swift as the engine category is different. Only the price matches.

However with the kind on Engine response the U-VA it is likely to be categorised with GETZ 1.1 (STILE 1.1) rather than the Swift.

No! But they found 'ma' inside the Getz 1.1! She seems happy with all the space at swift prices.

'Pa' ran away after hearing the price tag of Getz 1.3.

Oops! My mistake. I meant VGT and typed in turbo.

By the way after discount this what are OTR prices

Swift vxi 4.70 lkh

Getz 1.3 5 lkh

Swift zxi 5.6 lkh

So I guess at the 5 lkh otr price now getz 1.3 is not a costly car.

Question is instead of 40k offering discounts why don't Hyundai officially reduce the price around 5 ?

Discounts vary with dealer and stock. here, discounts on Getz are not too much compared to Swift petrol.

See this> In order of increasing prices. (ex-showroom price, trivandrum)
1. Swift LXi- 4,01, 580
2. Swift VXi- 4, 30, 095
3. Swift VXi ABS- 4,49,965
4. Swift LDi- 4,74, 271
5. Getz Prime 1.3 GLS- 4,90,476
6. Swift VDi- 5,07,218
7. Swift ZXi- 5,07, 617
8.Getz Prime 1.3 GLX- 5,25,575.
9. Swift VDi ABS- 5,27,077.

Getz 1.3 base (GLS) is priced higher than Swift VXi (with ABS) and Swift LDi as well.

Getz 1.3 (GLX) is priced almost 20k more than Swift ZXi
, which has 2 airbags+ automatic climate control that Getz doesn't have- and almost same as Swift VDi (ABS).

That's something new to me . In pune the Swift VXi goes 4.75 OTR and max 7k discounts brings it to 4.68. Swift ZXI has waiting period and after 7 k discount brings it to 5.52.OTR

Getz has almost 40 - 50 k discounts for 1.3 ltr model which makes the OTR price GLS -5.0 lkh , GLX 5.35 lkt OTR .

I agree that GLX is not VFM against ZXI , but look at GLS(5.0) OTR against VXI(4.68) OTR. In ~30 k you are getting rear defogger + tilt streeing + rear folding seats + Driver armrest+ body color (mirrors + handles)+ huge cabin space+ few other things like illuminated buttons shopping hook etc etc.

Again I am not comparing engines as it they DIFFERENT .

But Can you please confirm if Swift vxi -> 4.30 , zxi-> 5.07 OTR is correct price for month of Augest 08?

If yes,
can you give breakup for the discounts, so that same thing can be asked to swift pune dealer.

Swift zxi-> 5.07 , I don't want to waste my time typing here , and just want to go and buy it at 5.07

If no ,

then I feel still at 5lkh gls will be VFM for most of the people.

In the first place, Hyundai is pricing the car out of the roof and giving the discount of 40k to make it attractive?

CrAzY dRiVeR has listed both Swift and Getz ex showroom price in TVM.
