Infact they should completely drop 1.3 mill as when they introduce the new engine.

I feel after the facelift Maruti should have refrained from launching Ciaz with the 1.3 multijet and instead should have launched it with 1.5 mill after a while. I think they have been unfair to customers who went and bought the facelift with the old engine.

They should have also launched the new Ertiga with 1.5 diesel at the time of launch itself.
+1 to that. Maruti is known to fleece the customer by whatever means they have. Product specs can go to hell. Its money that matters.

re: Rumour: Maruti Ciaz & Ertiga 1.5L Diesel ready for launch

The lower state of tune is on account of the higher NVH levels. Some of you may recollect that the 1.5 diesel was ready for launch sometime ago but was held back - this according to sources within MUL was on account of high NVH levels.

While some work has since been done to reduce NVH, the current state of tune is almost the bare minimum for a 1.5 diesel. Expect a higher state of tune after Maruti further refines NVH levels.

Absolutely!

It's a public company with the sole intention of profit by staying within the rules of the sector! If it had any other intention than to make money, it wouldn't have been either No.1, commanding a 51% market share nor traded at the stock value on BSE/NSE.

By not offering the 1.3 during the facelift launch, the product management team would have to rebuild the marketing, while the bottom line would be affected as well.

Tell me one profitable automobile company, that cares for customer benefits over profits?

As long as they support the customers who bought the 1.3 DDiS for the time frame as regulated by the government and authorities, there seems no problem for me.

Just In :

Maruti has started training for New Ciaz 1.5 diesel. As expected, the car has 6 speed MT. Waiting for birdies to comment on VGT / FGT turbo. The car will be launched next month.

Wow this is cool news if true. Any idea if the 1.5 is already BSVI compliant?

So looks like MSIL is launching the Wagon R, updated Baleno and now the Ciaz next month? That's a lot of launches for a month!

Thanks

While they might've done the R&D to be BS6 compliant. They won't launch the BS6 with the additional equipment now, it will jack up the prices to a whole new level and put them out of competition. You can still expect a marginal increase in prices when the 1.5D gets introduced.

Well to be fair to customers, if the engine is already BSVI compliant and ready, they should launch it IMHO. This will only accelerate sales, despite the price hike.

Imagine someone buys a car now and 9 months down the line, the BSVI engine is launched. Will the customer not feel short changed?

Imagine the headline
MSIL hikes Ciaz Diesel prices by 1.5L

Does it feel good? Does it look like people are not going to mind?

Now Imagine Another Headline
Diesel Sedan's in India set to get expensive by 1.5L with MSIL, Hyundai and Honda planning to Introduce BS VI ready engines

Which headline is better for MSIL? Forget MSIL, will any sane company do that in a segment where competition is fierce?

Precisely my point, customers are very price conscious. Maruti will be bashed on this very thread for overpricing if they introduce the BS6 diesel now.

Maruti is also looking to recover their R&D costs on 1.5D by plonking them now. The diesel numbers will steeply fall once BS6 is mandated.

If for any reason, the price hike indeed touches 1.5lac or it's whereabouts, and the fuel prices remain the way they are, diesel sales will drop by numbers that will result in a new headline altogether:-

Maruti mulling complete shift to petrol, CNG and EVs owing to sharply dropping sales of diesel variants.

Maruti Ciaz 1.5-litre diesel Launching Next Month – Report
Quote:

If latest media report is to be believed, the Maruti Ciaz 1.5L diesel model will be launched in India in February 2019.
This engine will power the Ciaz, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza. It will first debut in Ciaz, which will be followed by new Ertiga.

The Ciaz will continue to offer with the existing 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine, and the new powertrain is likely to be introduced in the top-spec model as optional.
The new 1.5-litre diesel engine will be BSVI ready and will be compliant with the upcoming BS6 emission norms.

It is expected that the new diesel engine will significantly increase the prices of the Ciaz sedan. While the current Ciaz diesel starts at Rs 9.19 lakh, the upcoming model with 1.5L enginee is expected to cost around Rs 10 lakh.

More on the Ciaz diesel, bookings open in select Nexa outlets:

- Ciaz 1.5D will be available in Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants

- The 1.5-litre diesel won’t be offered with SHVS tech

- 6 MT

Quote:
Even though the new 1.5-litre unit won’t be BSVI-compliant at launch, Maruti will upgrade it post April 2020 to comply with the latest emission norms

After Ciaz and Ertiga, S Cross will get the 1.5L diesel, likely to be BS VI compliant at launch.

Quote:
The 1.5-litre S-cross is not expected to get the mild-hybrid system. In addition, the 5-speed manual gearbox will be replaced with a new 6-speed manual, which will continue to power the front wheels.

Any word on whether this 1.5L will be equipped with AMT? S-cross deserves an automatic.

S-Cross should be the first car to receive upgrade. It needs it badly. Biggest car of the lot and Maruti's most premium offering.
