Expected to have better driving dynamics, thanks to Ford inputs.

Mahindra insiders say Ford engineers have contributed in a big way to making the new XUV drive, ride and handle with plenty of confidence.

Mahindra will sell the new SUV in six- as well as seven-seat layouts. Sources say Mahindra engineers have kept a keen focus on passenger comfort, especially in the second and third rows.

This rendering from Autocar looks brilliant in terms of design. Initially, I thought the big C type DRL's will look too flashy and out of place, but this design gels really well.
2021 is going to be exciting with a host of new launches like the updated Jeep Compass, Skoda's Vision IN, VW Taigun, Ford's XUV5OO version, am i missing any?

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Spotted the new XUV 500 in camouflage today on the ORR Bangalore. The driver and the engineer in the car did not let me take a close pic but was able to glance in a bit.

1. This was a petrol, and one thing I can say, the engine was super silent.
2. The dash was fully camouflaged but whatever was visible, it looked pretty well built, especially the central facia.
3. Gear lever console also seemed to be well laid out although I felt it was a bit lower than expected in height
4. Generous knee room for middle row passengers
5. Dont think there is enough boot space after the third row of seats, could hardly see a gap when looking from outside

It was just a quick 1 minute with the vehicle so could not observe more.

Do you think it was as tall as the current SUV or few centimeters shorter?

Have seen it on road, next to a marazzo and it looks slightly shorter. Overall stance looks like S-Cross on steroids. But this is just my observation.

I found it to be shorter and not very tall like current xuv. Infact it had a more neutral stance as compared to the usual masculine look of the current gen XUV.

It has more of a rectangular form factor.

The problem with Indian OEMs is the leap of faith and launching these 'gizmos'. The development cycle of such infotainment products are such aggressive to meet the launch timelines. I'm telling this from the Harrier experience, I was quite excited for the new vehicle from TATA but still owners are complaining about their consoles. In today's day and age even a child has certain expectations from a smartphone and would shun a device at the slightest of lag observed.

Indian OEMs should first focus on a sound platform engineering, the automotive part and a base robust user experience package. Reading the recent Harrier ownership thread and spending a day at the SVC for 20 lakh vehicle to upgrade infotainment SW is simply heart breaking!

Mahindra go out all guns but ensure they fire as these niggles simple mar the vehicle ownership experience.

The Korean OEMs, Hyundai/Kia is pulling off the infotainment part well it seems. They have mechanical issues to address.

Those who have experienced Luxury brands, is the dash so fancy? Is Apple car play and Android auto so important part of the console?

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

XUV300 is based on a shortened Ssangyong Tivoli.

This XUV 500 is based on modified to be longer Ssangyong Korando. Let's just hope this is niggle free, it shall be agiant leap in terms of product for Mahindra.

Maybe time to refresh the current XUV to be sold alongside as classic. Would help to reduce any sticker shock, no need to be as well priced as XUV300 where Mahindra needed to get a foothold in the segment.

Sorry for the OT, but a recent spy shot of the TUV300 BS6 had a Bolero spare wheel cover, are they planning to rename the TUV300 to Bolero or is this just a coincidence?

As you had mentioned earlier that possibly the TUV300 Plus will be renamed to the Bolero Plus, can the same be expected of the TUV300?

I've seen this spy shot and it only confirms what my inside source had shared with me - the TUV 300 product line seems set to inherit the Bolero brand name (as in, "Bolero" is a larger than life product which is a brand in itself). The sub 4m TUV 300 seems to be the new Bolero and the 4m+ version may become the Bolero Plus. This means that they'll need to actually retire the erstwhile Bolero product...which is a decision Mahindra had intended to make in 2015 during the TUV 300's launch but never did.

Let's wait and watch

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

I know its early but how would the XUV Diesel A/T compare to the Tata Harrier Diesel A/T would anyone hazard a guess? Specially in terms of reliability and ease of ownership?

I think both of these make really compelling propositions in the Creta / Creta+ segment.

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is the availability of AWD! 2021 XUV Diesel AT will have AWD option, whereas Harrier Diesel AT does not have AWD and will not have it in near future. So that is one big difference right away.

The other differences we will see when the XUV 2021 is launched.

Well the XUV will be getting a EPB with Auto Hold. Not Directly related to engine, but it will be an immense convience to have one.

In terms of power it's rumoured to be around 185+bhp.

Looks good. About the height I can see a thar just ahead of XUV. With Thar's height at 1850+ mm and the XUV in pic being slightly shorter in height, the new XUV doesn't appear shorter in height. Current XUV stands at 1785 mm. I guess new one is similar.
