By looking at the rear door handle, we can see how the pop out mechanism is going to be like - it looks similar to the Tesla Model 3, albeit forward hinged.

This looks similar too-

Seems a bit too much for a mid-size SUV/Crossover . Hope it turns out to be user friendly and reliable. Good luck Mahindra!
Remembered seeing these type of flush door handles on the aston martin in the movie "Casino Royal" about 14 years ago. Man ! thank god it has trickled down to the mass car segment. I think they look kind of nice. I am not someone who likes a lot of new gizmos, but I think these door handles look classy !

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Flush-fit door-handles : Yet another mechanical component easily repairable by FNGs, converted into an electro-mechanical unit that can (most likely) only be repaired by the service center.

Q) Why fix something that ain't broken?
A) Well, re-engineer it to last approximately as long as the warranty and then on it creates a revenue stream by making the customer dependent on the ASC.

An autonomous tech can be expected as spied before, the bumper bottom -center is covered. The question is whether it's a 360 view camera or an autonomous tech ?

Front LEDs look bit quirky with dual set-up, wish they kept it bit simpler.

The spacing between them may not look equidistance drom different angles and could seem asymmetrical

These are definitely not LED headlights, just quad halogens with LED light guides/DRLs. Most probably a mid variant but I'm pretty sure the top end will get superior headlights, LED or HIDs.

I meant dual LED DRLs, they look quirky

Of course it is quirky - it is French.

The design is a direct rip off or inspiration from the European Renault cars - like the Megane, or the 2020 European Captur.

These French cars DRLs still look better, I guess one single thick bold LED line is still OK, whereas spacing between two thin parallel running ones will look uneven when viewed from different angles 😀

French or not, I actually quite like it!

The XUV3OO implementation looks overdone and gaudy to my eye, so if they really are trying to match up the "design language" of the XUV range, the XUV5OO looks pretty damn good, IMO.

Fingers crossed they don't give it a funny toothy grill like they did the Thar.

With the ADAS, a new petrol and more powerful and ever reliable diesel engines with well tuned torque converters, a revamped interior (even a panoramic sunroof if I'm not wrong?), the XUV5OO would be a very compelling package. That only if they don't launch at exorbitant prices like the XUV3OO followed by a price correction later.

Excatly! When I saw the tbhp thumbnail of the news I thought that was the Renault Koleos! These are my favorite design among the current gen cars.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

French inspired or quirky.
The XUV500 needs features like these and overdone styling to make it an XUV500.
(Though hope they go for the opposite design philosophy in case of the next gen Scorpio. Clean design please)

True that.
If it was a single thick light bar or some design with winged features would have looked cool.
Right now, the non- equidistant lines is killing my OCD.
Though IRL, guess it will all come together to give a good road presence.

IMHO, the Cadillac treatment of the XUV300 looks more clean. Not to say, in this age of huge ass overdone grilles, the small clean grille of the XUV300 feels like a whiff of fresh air.

Only problem with these designs is that they look great in the top variant.
But the base variants, especially lighter colours look horrible with the plastic pieces done to fill up the gaps.
