I have a problem with the part of the image showing seats. Great that it is wide and has a long seat base, but greatly disappointed by the lack of perforations in the upholstery which makes me think are we are loosing out on ventilated seats?:confused

I don't think this is top model. It misses out on auto hold and EPB.

Exactly. It also seems like a Manual transmission model.

Well, still no news from M&M on launch date. Looks like they are going to wait for pricing and initial bookings for the New Safari from Tata Motors.

IRVM has a flipper - Not automatic.
Let's not worry as it is a test mule. With the competition offering ventilated seats, Mahindra might not want to miss out on this. Same goes for auto IRVM.

It was always reported to have been slated for April/May launch. I don't think the delay has anything to do with the Safari launch. Official statements might come when the launch is due within a month.

Exactly. And considering the other features on offer, it's unlikely that M&M would skimp on such basic things regardless of competition benchmarks.

XUV500 Panoramic sunroof video:

Ford Edge Plus 2021 interior video. As per earlier reports, XUV5OO infotainment is inspired from this.

This thread has gone quite silent lately compared to the Safari thread. Anyone with any updates? Granted that the scheduled launch is still a few months away, but there hasn't been any news other than the test cars being spotted, has there?

I guess this is a deliberate move by Mahindra. Once the Safari is launched, we should see a sort of offensive frenzy by Mahindra.

XUV500 owner here, from 2012. Looking to sell and replace, possibly with a refreshed XUV500. Lot of confusion so a lot of questions.

Is the new car likely to have any structural changes at all? One of the real bummers for us has been the tiny rear view, and the poor sight lines for reversing. These have put my wife (otherwise an avid and capable driver) off the car. She says she wouldn't mind driving it, but doesn't want to park it. Is all-round camera vision likely to make its way to this refresh?

The turning radius also bothers her, but we had our Qualis for 15 years, with its 4.9m radius (equal to our preceding Maruti Zen!). I don't suppose the steering geometry has changed at all. Also, most cars of this size are hardly going to be nimble in this regard, I guess.

Should we opt for the manual transmission, even though it means going down the value ladder and, importantly, giving up most of the airbags. We have been happy with the manual transmission (there was a huge wait for the AWD when we bought, which was just as well). My son and I are both happy hypermiling, and have been consistently getting 13-15 kmpl from the diesel engine in the city, over 20 on highway drives (though the software is not calibrated beyond 18). Now the question is whether we should consider the Automatic. Having never driven an automatic, I worry about both response and fuel efficiency.

Finally (and this is not really a question), we used the third row well while the children were littler, but realise that it is now useable only for short city commutes, when even adults can sit for a while with their knees to their noses. While we are willing to dispense with the third row (it gives us a much wider set of choices), we still need the large storage space at the rear, to transport our dogs. The relatively large third windows on most Mahindra cars is good for dogs to look through, though we miss the openable window on our Qualis.

Most of our running is in the city, some on poor suburban roads, a few times a year on a flat highway, once a year into the hills, and every few years on a real drive like Ladakh.

Putting AC vents in the central console would really help. The vents in the B-pillars have put out pathetic whispers.

Never got used to the huge thickness of the doors, due to all the internal wiring/mechanisms and (for us) useless storage they featured.

So any specific advice for us as we await the launch?

Could be, but you can't judge it in this picture as both the cars are not exactly side by side. Current generation car is a feet or 2 ahead which affects the perspective and our ability to accurately compare the cars.

Friend spotted XUV500 test mule on Kullu Manali highway.
Interestingly look at the rear suspension, is it the independent rear suspension I am seeing?

Do we have any BHPian from Mahindra or Tier1/Tier2 suppliers to them? Other than the test mules, is there any reliable source on launch month?

I know this may be confidential but just heads up on tentative timelines, will keep the days counter get started within myself. I believe they may open up commercials, booking at least a month in advance to get the cars at dealership.

Thanks

Yes but even the current generation car has rear independent suspension, so this comes as no surprise.
