Finally, they have started releasing teasers. If the people who featured in the teaser are actually those who worked on the car, I really appreciate Mahindra for giving due credit to them.
Also, the naming (XUV700) hints at a significant price increase over the current XUV500. But that won't be a problem now as we have seen Safari and Hector doing great numbers.
A very important product for Mahindra, good luck to them!
Anand Mahindra confirms the people in the video are the real team behind the XUV700 project

That's a great way to appreciate your employees. However, isn't the ending of the video very similar to any of the Marvel Movies introduction scenes!!

Have a look!

The theme of the video appears to be - Vocal for Local - so not just a sticker on the rear window , Pedigree is Mahindra itself

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q3-2021

Nicely executed video.

I did wonder, with all the ADAS and additional features, how would they be able to market it as the new XUV 5OO, and still justify the price increase.

If this is the 7oo, then we can sure expect a move up the price ladder. The new branding gives them a new opportunity for product placement.

I hope, they do not get too ambitious and price it way above new Safari. There's a new Darien Gap above the Safari and I wish the new Mahindra doesn't get more dearer than it should be to eat the chunk of the pie.

Remember, the Alturas was a good proposition which played too high because it was plonked above its league ambitiously. A more aggressive pricing with heavy localisation would have helped the Alturas and Ssangyong Mahindra marriage.

Now, I hope the 7OO disrupts the market with its pricing just like the 5OO did back in the day.

Just saw on Twitter that Mahindra will be temporarily discontinuing XUV5OO after the launch of XUV7OO.

Maybe they plan to relaunch it as 5-seater version of the XUV700 to take on Harrier/Hector.

XUV7OO - 7 seater
XUV5OO - 5 seater

https://www.carwale.com/mahindra-cars/xuv700/
This article from Carwale mentions that the XUV700 is going to come with a CVT (and paired to a 155 BHP motor). All these days we have been hearing about the engines being tuned to produce 180+ BHP and a 6 speed TC automatic. Is this genuinely 'new' information about XUV700 or just a case of mediocre/speculative reporting?

I think it's more of speculation than reality. They have a perfect combination of petrol and diesel ATs in Thar, why would they jump to a CVT with same engine in different tune? Moreover they already have a 155BHP engine mated to AISIN TC in their XUV, then why would they jump to CVT?

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q3-2021

Saw this heavily camouflaged SUV. Looking at the size, the A pillar and strong shoulder crease near the C pillar make me think this is the XUV7OO.
The interior HU layout seemed to be a bit similar to the Seltos. Bigger tyres 235/65/R 17” MRF tyres. Nice machine finished alloys. Rear disc brakes. Not a flip or a pull type handle. Couldn’t get a peek into the front.

Pics taken at Tambaram and the suv was on its ways to the Mahindra city probably

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q3-2021

Saw couple of test miles. Assuming it is XUV as it just came out of the Mahindra research centre near Chengalpet in TN.

It had LED HIDs and LED tail lights. It also had a sweeping indicator like MG. I saw it running on 17 inches tires. Could not get the entire spec.

Did you mean LED headlights or HIDs? Never heard of LED HIDs. Can someone explain please?

My apologies. It is LEDs. Please refer to the pictures posted by our D-BHPian volkman10. I spotted the same car but with different Temp registration number.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q3-2021

Wait, what!! 2024? Does Mahindra even know what Hyundai plans to do with the Creta by then? 3 years is a long time when you consider the speed at which the Koreans work. For all you know, by 2024 the Creta will have had the XUV700 for lunch and then some more.

Time to market is key. Unfortunately, Tata and Mahindra know very little of it.

That's because they aren't even half as big as Hyundai. They have to get the powertrains, trasmissions, components ready from scratch and then test the vehicle with it. Hyundai has the freedom to chose from various engine-gearbox combinations it has. And given their large vehicle range, they have good scope for part sharing too.

The potential buyer doesn't care if they're half as big as Hyundai and is not going to wait around for them to launch a product that beats the competition. They've been making cars for decades now and have partnered with some of the biggest OEMs. Should've sorted out these things by now at least if they aim to compete at that level. There are no brownie points in the real world for being the smaller entity.
