My worry is, we all know about M&M's incompetency with implementing new gizmos. And such safety related tech needs meticulous Q&A which they lack, could potentially cause a lot of damage. This is what I fear!

That is a good point and also true, if one was to say that gauging their 1st gen XUV5OO buyer's experiences.
Even for this new upgraded next generation one, at present I feel, the initial lot of buyers may be taking a chance. Unless, Mahindra has perfected their craft of making reliable parts, out of the gates, the first time they do it.

Wait and watch game, certainly.

My uncle owns a first gen XUV 500 and I extensively used it until a year ago. Since he is living in rural, he had to send it to my place for Service and let me tell you, that vehicle has given us a lot of troubles and small niggles here and there. Although the service center fixed them for the time being, either it will relapse or a new niggle will start cropping.

This is when he decided to buy Cruze just before the bailout news broke and that became his primary vehicle. With regular maintenance it serves him well and not a niggle in sight.

Not only the XUV, even our Xylo had it's fair share of horror stories and with such experience, I wouldn't touch the new XUV with all safety tech. Not even after 5 years. This is simple life or death matter and I don't want to risk it with purchase of such immature tech.

A decade ago this vehicle rang the death knell for many sedans! Expectations are high and the wait is even longer. M&M are putting their best foot forward in an already delayed product development. The dual screen unit seems to have separate infotainment and driver multi-information displays.

As per latest trends, it might also have Alexa built into the infotainment unit along with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay!

It seems M&M is so convinced with their first design iterations that they find it difficult to update it sooner. With the all new Thar, hope things start changing for M&M. Scorpio, Bolero, TUV, XUV are looking the same for ages!

+1 to it. M&M should focus on making niggle free cars first before slapping on more tech which creates more niggles. In this case an malfunction could be the difference between life & death

On the same note, I'll rather have them offer a better rust resistant metal used in the construction rather than just shoving features down the consumers throat. In a Facebook owners group, there are people with rust appearing in the body during first 3 years. Not counting literal holes in chassis and body in our 2012 XUV.

Only thing bugging me is whether they have made the car smaller than before!

I think autocarindia is wrong here. The radar for adaptive cruise control is never integrated in the windshield unless it is a purely camera based system. The radar is usually placed on the front bumper or behind the transparent manufacturer logo on the grille.

If I am not wrong, the radar can be seen in the lower bumper ( the rectangular box in the middle)

They definitely need to make sure there is sufficient space in back after putting all three rows up

Looks very proportionate in new pics taken from a distance (without camera angles having any major influence)

Attaching a picture for reference, was unable to do that earlier while posting from mobile.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

Saw this vehicle at Urappakam yesterday. Same makeshift headlamps & tail lights. The dash was heavily covered, but whatever little I could see, the console should be an interesting place.

The rear wheel arch design is ALMOST same as current gen.

Next gen XUV is worth waiting it seems , it would be offering a features package similar to that of Seltos with a Harrier kind of presence !

Those twin screens looks like of very good quality , EPB switch looks similar to that of Tata Gravitas .

Other switch doesn't look like a drive mode selector rather it seems like an infotainment controller, which is very good .

That is what I also thought, with the rotatory console top operating as an touch pad input for the infotainment like Mercedes Benz.

Also looking at the power window console, it looks like electric rear and side shades are also on the cards. Hope it also gets ventilated seats to take the game to the Koreans.
