This is my wish list for improvement from current gen xuv. Better braking, more boot space, better suspension, better nvh level. Even If they improve half of this list by 25%, it will be a winner else it will be tough ride for it given that competition is really tough now.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

I sincerely hope the new XUV 500 comes with 3 pointed seat belts for all passengers including the middle passenger of second row and if not, the option of a 6 seater version so that I don't have to see the ugly lap belt dangling on the seat of an expensive car in 2021!

I also hope that an All Wheel Drive variant comes at launch.

Since nobody else has brought this up, do the interiors look exactly like the Seltos or is it just me? Merc inspired touch screen+AC vents really give me that Kia vibe.

Unlike the Kia Seltos, the twin screens seem flat and seamless (it is basically a single flat screen).

The interior looks premium. I sincerely hope that Mahindra will be able to pull the strings with new XUV 5OO. They seriously need a car which can bring decent volume.

Dear CapKoura, Pulse500 - Same question to both of you. You both seem to be first Gen XUV500 owners. What would be your feedback being a long time owner of XUV ? How has been the ownership experience so far ? How does the car ride and handle ? How’s the service experience with M&M ? I have had some experience with M&M due to my E2O and presently have friendship with good folks at TASS due to my Hexa. Some feedback from you both will be great here.

The ownership experience has been fantastic. The odo reading is just shy of 1.45 lakh kms, but the car still drives really well. My family being in the construction business, the car's role over the years was workhorse on weekdays (often for site work, which included transporting goods, materials, etc. on relatively rough terrain), and for outstation family trips on the weekends. It performed, and continues to do both efficiently.

The ride is still fairly decent, but the handling leaves a lot to be desired (a very highlighted shortcoming of the first gen XUV). Not much of an issue when cruising. The engine is still quite punchy, and there has never been an instance where a need for more power was felt.

As for reliability, no major mechanical issue has cropped up, other than a minor one here and there (AC cooling). No overheating issues so far.

Due to inconvenient workshop locations, we now get the car serviced at a trustworthy local workshop, but the times that we dealt with Mahindra ASS, it was relatively hassle-free. The only major repair was when the gear cable (pardon me if the term is incorrect) snapped off on the WEH. Even then, Mahindra immediately dispatched a towing van and a technician to the spot, got it towed to their workshop in Kurla, and returned the car the next day.

My father maintains that the SA at the Mahindra dealership at Marine Drive, where we bought the car from, was extremely courteous, with prompt and transparent communication throughout the process, which is appreciable because we had a 4-5 month wait between booking and delivery.

Overall, the experience with the car and with M&M has been really good. That's why, according to me, the 2nd gen XUV seems to be an ideal replacement option for the first gen, for those who are in the market for a 7-seater and don't want a Fortuner/Endeavour sized hole in their wallets.

Apologies for the slightly long answer.

Re: The 2nd-gen Mahindra XUV500, coming in Q2-2021

This thread seems to have gone cold with no new updates. With the All-New Safari getting launched in Jan, wonder what's the latest news from M&M on the New XUV500? I am sure M&M wouldn't want to lose their customers to the rebadged Gravitas as Safari. Timing is of essence here and Some noise in the market about the launch date will do wonders to XUV500's sales.

Possible Mahindra XUV500 test mule spotted.

Captured this yesterday on NH 45 somewhere near Singaperumal Koil (Chennai). The car was completely camouflaged including the logo and hence all I'm making is an educated guess. Zooming into the logo in the rear profile picture, I am guessing it's a Mahindra and the profile makes me think it's a XUV500. Couldn't capture more pictures since we were on a National Highway and he was driving mostly in the right lane albeit slowly.
Why are the lights so basic?

Which is that third one at the back? Resembles current gen Scorpio.

At 0:20 we could see the driver side door handle is popped out. So, will it stay in the open position even after the door is closed and locked? The door is properly shut and the driver is inside. At this time the handle shouldn't be open, unless any bystander fiddled with it. Would love to hear other member's point of view.

New pics. Are we missing ventilated seats?

Found these pics posted on rushlane website.

Going by the look of centre console area, it seems to be a relatively higher variant.

I have a problem with the part of the image showing seats. Great that it is wide and has a long seat base, but greatly disappointed by the lack of perforations in the upholstery which makes me think are we are loosing out on ventilated seats?

IRVM has a flipper - Not automatic.

Different alloy design was spotted elsewhere.

Or could it just be a penultimate variant?

Fingers crossed. Hoping to put an end to my long wait for a worthy duster replacement.
