Last heard from my dealer while I was at service for my W205, that Mercedes is not going to offer the V for fleet sales.

To go the fleet way, I guess they need to take the CKD route and reduce the taxes.

The interior quality is no where close to what a premium buyer would associate with a Mercedes. This honestly looks made for fleet operations. Least they could have done is cover the dash and door trims with veneer. The rear door looks all black plastic from the photos above.

Anyway will hold my judgement until I see one in flesh.

No electric adjust for the big boss's seat? He probably needs to hire another person to adjust his seat, just like trucks have a driver and a cleaner/helper. :

These interiors make Kia Carnival look like the Maybach of vans.
This sure looks like a model built for fleet operations. I doubt its going to sell at all given the 1+ Cr pricing someone suggested. At this price, a GLS makes much more sense. The R-Class has better interiors than this while being positioned the lower segments.

Having been driven around in this several times while in Europe, I personally find this car to be ridiculously priced!
Interior quality isn't the same level as the cheaper E Class, neither is the feature list.
That being said, there are very few options for someone who wants a large premium family car - given most MUVs & SUVs have a horrible third row of seats + ingress in this should be easier than in an SUV. Hotels that can get it for a cheaper price will love it too!

I dont think Mercedes are too concerned. It will attract the tourism segment where the Toyota Hi-Ace is popular in a limited segment

Such dearth of points to highlight, even the cupholder is mentioned as a feature

This has the "hotel industry" written all over it. Hotels will be able to buy the V-Class much cheaper because, under the EPCG scheme, they can buy capital goods with just 3% import duty. It'll probably be a 40-odd lakh vehicle for them. Expect to see lots of these parked outside the Tajs & 4 Seasons of the world.

As GTO says and supported by the fact that 2500 cars can be imported without homologation, this is a great car for the 5-star hotels. Other than that, it is not going to appeal to anyone.

Any private buyer with money would buy an SUV which has more appeal. The X5, Q7, GL class would be my choice if I had $$$.

Beg to differ here. The target buyer for this car is someone who has a couple of Germans already at home. He would have say an S class for weekdays or GLE/GLS for those out station trips. But this car is more to ferry relatives/friends/parents with you while you are following in the GLE/S on those weekend trips.
