re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

Saw the car near McDonald's Kalamboli yesterday morning. I honestly believe this car is gonna do some good things. Loved the road presence of it.

Detailed history of the brand for folks who have missed it:
Does anyone remember the MG ad from the 70s where they sort of admitted that the car was not a sensible choice?

BMW did nothing with the badge. The problems in dealing with Rover were too much of a distraction. They could have made a neat sports car based on the Z3 or even the Mini if they tried.

One thing to add, the days of the small sports car are limited. Only Mazda makes one successfully. The Fiat 124 spider bombed. The Audi TT (a little bigger ) will not be replaced as mentioned elsewhere

The front bumper isn't protruding out one bit and practically non-existent. The MG badge on the front grill will be the first to make contact rather than the bumper. Seems to be a design trend in recent cars, a design trend which I don't like.

Any idea if the launch date for price reveal and test drives have been revealed? When are the media drives happening?

Mods are we invited for the media drives?

I have heard that they plan to open it by the June 4th. The Showroom size and location is quite nice and they are doing it up nicely and showcasing the heritage of MG Motors.
MG has an office in Signature Towers, Gurgaon currently. This may well be a makeshift temporary base till their new office comes up. They are ready with a showroom in MGF Metropolis Mall on MG Road, Gurgaon too.

So no firmed dates yet? or the information is embargoed?

I'm eagerly waiting for this car as a replacement for my XUV, so the sooner the TeamBHP review the better

Thats good news. Is the MGF metropolis showroom already operational - if it is , I would certainly be keen to drop by and have a detailed look at the Hector.
My only worry still remains on the Touchscreen based control for all the systems!
Though even Tesla cars have a similar system, but the Tesla system would certainly be of much higher quality and have better software.
Even in my Jeep, there are bugs in the touch screen interface - Like Instrument panel and screen not dimming (once in a while) and glowing at full intensity even when we try to reduce brightness from the dial (at night it can be quite glary)
The JC screen is also slow at times to react.
With more and more features dependent on a touch screen, It seems a bit of a gamble. I am still a bit of an old school guy though (inspite of working in a high tech IOT company now!)

Last when I checked this few days back, I recall the showroom was ready but there were no display vehicles yet. I am not updated about the current scenario though. However, I stay bang opposite MGF Metropolis Mall so it won't be much of a hassle to go there personally and check this out on a weekend as work timings won't permit me to visit the showroom on a weekday.

MG Hector's mileage figures revealed.

Hector's 48V Mild Hybrid:

Claimed to be nearly 12 percent more frugal than the standard Hector petrol, the MG Hector hybrid’s official fuel efficiency figure is 15.81kpl.

Autocar seems to have become a marketing plugging machine, not that I'm complaining, it's just one needs to be careful to follow them keeping that bias in mind.

So it seems that the Turbo Petrol DCT will be 9-10kmpl in city in the real world? That could be a deal breaker for me.

Man, I wish it also came with the mild-hybrid

Expect no more than 7-8 kmpl in city traffic. This is precisely why petrol Suvs dont make any sense in India.

True that, in Mumbai where the average speeds are less than 15 km/h our humble hatches and sub 4 mtr sedans struggle to cross 10 kmpl.
I would recommend a long test drive in traffic conditions to gauge the mileage figures one can expect from any vehicle.
