The two Hector test mules had come to my society today

!! Had a good look at them but couldn't click many pics since I was getting late for school. Although I did manage to click one from the car.

MG Hector production to start from April 29, 2019

MG Motor India will begin mass producing its first product for India, the Hector SUV from April 29, 2019. The model is expected to launch soon.

Front end is quite imposing

DRLs are mounted near the bonnet like the harrier. Look pretty smart

The rear seems smart. However, the faux cladding is hidden here so can't really pass a judgement as of now.

Rear seat gets adjustable headrest for the middle passenger too!

Rear wheels get disc brakes; are bigger in size compared to rivals. Wheel well also gets full cladding at the rear.

Interiors are centred around the huge centre screen which is rumoured to be voice controlled and very responsive.

Panoramic sunroof is huge!

Side profile makes the car look really large. However, the wheels feel puny in comparison to the body mass.

Overall, I found the fit and finish to be excellent on the test mules. From the outside, it looked very spacious too! Would definitely like to compare this to the production version when it comes out.

Did you get a chance to check out the interiors? Any idea what the seat color is, dashboard color etc? This one looks all black to me, did you get a chance to see any other?

I saw the interiors from outside so don't really have a lot of perspective. The standard seat colour seems to be black. They may, however offer a beige seat cover is what I predict with India being the beige loving country. The interiors were fully black in both the test mules I saw and even the advertisement has them in black so I think that will be the default colour.

Yes thats what it looks like, the Indonesian Wuling Almaz offers it in beige. I love beige makes it feel roomy. By the way, since you were so close the vehicle and I believe more than a few times, how do you think the ground clearance is?

Beige does make it feel roomy but judging from the outside, it is a very spacious car as it is so there's no actual need for extra roominess by using beige.

The ground clearance though was adequate. Not too high, not too low but judging purely from looks, the Harrier seems have a tad bit of an advantage here. Also, the smaller wheels and a long wheelbase for the Hector means that theoretically it will struggle at places where a Harrier would go easily.

HECTOR has a massive road presence. What all features they are going to launch in India need to be checked. Starting with 100 dealers is a good start for the new car makers in India.

Wheels change is a must if im going to buy this. Currently confused between Harrier, Crysta and Hector.

All their cars seems to be built on IoT. While this can offer great connectivity it also poses some serious data privacy concerns. A lot among the Chinese manufacturers have a habit of collecting data from us but then India does not have strict privacy laws which entitles then to continue what they're doing.

Here is a treat for everyone's eyes!

The quality, fit, feel and finish of the vehicle is too good. NVH levels are also amazing.

Overall, I feel that the competition would have a tough time standing against this product.

Spotted 2 MG dealer locations in Bangalore. 1 was at Kammanhalli at ORR and other at Mahadevpura ORR. Both showrooms are of medium size. Important thing to notice is that the locations are close to where all other car dealerships are located.

Saw the same test mule again today! Couldn't click pics but I guess I don't need to

. Seems like MG is going all out in testing it near launch to prevent it from becoming it like another Harrier(half baked product)

Thanks a ton mate! I like the interiors but the inverted RPM gauge doesn't do anything for me. Aston Martin had these in the DB9 series and amongst the newer launches the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUV's seem to sport them. Pics for reference, credits to the respective sites/photogs.
