re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

Any idea how safe will the Hector be? Is that high on their agenda? I don't see safety features being talked about anywhere - either by MG or any of the auto mags.

Only hint I found was in an old AutoCar video when all the media representatives were flown to China for introducing the MG brand to India.

For the Wuling Almaz Petrol turbo with CVT (ours will be DCT) the mileage is 11.4 km/l and 13.4 km/l on the highway, 0-100 timing is 10 seconds. Of course, these values will change in our conditions.

re: MG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L

I'm interested in this car as a potential replacement for my 7 yr old Duster next year, as Renault is not launching the next gen Duster in India anytime soon.

By next year, detailed reviews user feedback & a decent amount of 6 month owner reports should be out & I can then make an informed decision.

I have been saying that the kind of fineness I have seen on the MG cars that were on display seem to be lacking in MG Hector to an extent. In this photo you can see the waviness on the leather wrapping.

Here is a photo I had taken from the display during their roadshowMG India's first SUV named Hector. Edit: Launched @ 12.18L-img_20190217_164814.jpg

Possibly, you were in a higher version with better/more premium trim levels.

Each time I see the shiny Hector, I think it looks great, except for the back side maybe. But, the electric toothbrush I bought off of Amazon.in few weeks back (not knowing its made in China), that refused to start no matter what I did, and went straight to the trash can - will the Hector be able wipe off that trauma from my head? Time will tell.

Thanks for the pictures!

The Tacho runs anti-clockwise. Quite weird.
Cream leather on the dashboard and pink on the door armrests, again weird!

Fit and finish/workmanship do not vary so much between variants. Once they have a leather wrapping on the steering wheel, it should be the same irrespective of the variant.

There was an interview with Mr.Rajiv Chaba (I think on ACI) where he said they were aiming for 5* rating in India since this model had received 5* in China as well. I dont remember in which issue it was.

The Door armrests are beige/cream colored leather same as the dash board. It looks pinkish due to the lighting condition. You can see the hand holding the key looks pink too. Check the last picture where you can see the beige armrests.

The anti clockwise tachometer is indeed tacky. It will get some time to get used to and will definitely feel weird.

Yes, the colors difference is on account of lighting. I wouldn't call the anti clockwise tacho as tacky. It is different, for sure. I had posted a few images of the Aston Martin DB9, Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUV's having these anti clockwise dials a few posts ago. So it is not something new that is being adopted by MG. We are used to the standard orientation of the tacho and I for one would have love that trend to continue in the Hector.

Good spot there, but I doubt there would be room for the sunroof to open that way. And I am under the impression that Hector sports a Panoramic Sunroof?

You are absolutely right. The hector has a panaromic sunroof. And it opens backwards and not sidewards.
