Maruti Suzuki has launched a platform for Indian musicians called Nexa Music. It will enable creators to compose original lyrics and create original international music of global standards.



Participants can upload their entries via Youtube or share their SoundCloud link with their name and email address on this website.



Contestants are required to submit original music compositions (unreleased / non-promoted songs). A jury comprising of A R Rahman and Clinton Cerejo will shortlist 24 contestants, who will undergo a mentorship program at the Nexa Music Lab. Finally, 4 contestants will be shortlisted and will be mentored to create 4 additional videos. They will be mentored by music composer A R Rahman, supported by Clinton Cerejo. Finalists will also get a chance to participate in 12 live events with their mentors across India.

Yesterday NEXA had opened a live stream for 'The big reveal' scheduled at 12PM, which was a no show till after 12:30 PM. Was hoping to see some announcements regarding the new engine, or the Baleno facelift, realized later that it was NEXA Music instead.

I'm not sure what Maruti Suzuki intends to pull off here, because it seems like their involvement goes way beyond the usual sponsorship for such events.

I am also surprised what MSIL has to do with Music. Sounds more like the ARR's youtube troop has bagged a big sponsor. Sometime back they ran a singing talent show "ARRIVED" with ZERO movie as sponsor. May be ARR is playing some action to groom next generation musicians (not just singers) and is actively hunting for sponsors.
