Re: Kerala: Govt to cap life of vehicles to 10 years

The biggest paradox is that this is the same government/ bureaucracy that upped the life terms of private buses from 15 years to 20 years a couple of weeks ago.

Typical of how things are in our country.

New-thread starter idea: Can someone please come up with the list of automobile, transport related proposals, changes, promises etc. made in the past 5 years? Will make one hell of a read.

Re: Kerala: Govt to cap life of vehicles to 10 years

What are they going to do with the registration expired vehicles?

There are carcasses of vehicles both LMVs and HMVs lying all over the state crowding the already narrow roads.

All the best Kerala is all I can say.

Re: Kerala: Govt to cap life of vehicles to 10 years

These futile announcements by different state and central Govt. make a mockery of themselves in India. How can a state even think to declare such a rule when the rest of the country is no where near it. Even at international level, all the talk of electric cars is still at wishful thinking stage only. Let alone India, I think even none of the developed countries have been able to build proper infrastructure to totally replace gasoline cars in the next ten years. Seems like our politicians and Govt departments leave no stone unturned to catch public imagination even if that means declaring to achieve something in ten years that may not be possible to achieve in twentry years. God help these people.

Kerala targets 1 million EVs on the road in 3 years.

http://auto.ndtv.com/news/kerala-set...22-1986547/amp

Quoting the article.
Quote:
In a major boost to the electric vehicle market, the state government announced that it has set a target of having 1 million EVs by 2022. It will do so by putting in place a Rs. 12 crore e-mobility fund.
Quote:
In his Budget Speech on Thursday, January 31, Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that by 2019-20, Kerala RTC buses will be replaced by electric buses. The complete switch to electric buses will start from Thiruvananthapuram, whose State Road Transport Corporation has decided to make a complete switch during the next fiscal. The state also said it will give tax exemption and subsidy to electric autorickshaws.

Re: Kerala: Govt to cap life of vehicles to 10 years

It would help if the ministers can lead the junta by getting rid of the Toyota Crystas and Corollas and travel in Mahindra/Tata electric vehicles.

I don't see it happening in the next 10 years.
