Right. The 2002 Altima changed the game.

This news sounds unbelievable. Neither ACI or OD have reported on the possible launch of this car in their "new cars for 2007" list. Let's see if this news is correct. It will be awesome to see the Maxima on our roads. The current generation Maxima has fantastic road presence, better then the Accord, Camry, Acura TSX and even the Avalon!

Why are they naming the car Teana? Sounds very oriental/Japanese. Maxima sounds more international, why not just retain that name?

With all the launches we have seen, launching a maxima is very much possible, and it could very well be true. I do not see any mass market for CBUs. Without a mass market, Nissan being a household name - is far from true.
ofcourse it will make it a household name! it doesn't have to be bought by everybody for it to be a household name.
It will be advertised on television, it will be on half page advertisements on newspapers, it will be discussed on television auto shows, it will be on auto magazines, it is being discussed here (I don't intend or can afford Teana) and there you go, its becoming a household name!

At those price points, dealer and service network do not matter as much as they down the order.

On the contrary, it gives people a sort of (false, maybe but its there all the same) ego boost to say that they have to 'send' their cars somewhere to get it serviced.

I remember my Nigerian neighbour, one of those Miltary Rule 'General's (they are a dime a dozen) proudly stating that he has to send his cars to London (from Lagos) to get them serviced (a Daimler and a Rolls).

I like the name cefiro followed by maxima. Both sound powerful names. Teana sounds so tame and lifeless.

Where do you live/ move around Tushar? you seem to have the scoop pics for every car to be launched!

Thanx for the pics.
And I don't think selling the teana will help nissan in any way in the indian market besides adding another car to their portfolio.
You should take a look at their spare price list for the x-trail in an earlier ACI edition, some parts were more exorbiant than eeven the Porsche cayenne!

Unless they make a serious commitment to our market and start production here, they are not gonna make a head way.

thats the secret place my friend..
ok. the teana is bit costly i think. people will buy Audi a4 or C-class in this money. nissan should launch small car in india. atleast the car in the range of 10 to 15 lakhs.

Nissan will surely have tough time selling this car. Altima would have been more appropriate for India. 2007 Altima is a much better car than Maxima. Nissan has always messed up Maxima and to start in India with such a car is not a wise thing. The car cant be positioned along Accord (pricewise) or upper luxury segment.
