I don't think the Toyota faced Brezza will be manufactured at the Suzuki plant. One major motive behind this agreement is to utilise the idle production capacity of Toyota, which IMO is quite under utilised today.

re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

The partnership in India terms is not about the cars. Toyota will anyways not sell too many of crossbadged cars. The win for Toyota is two fold:
1) They get access to Maruti's India supplier base who supply parts to Maruti at presumably lower rates owing to the volumes involved. If Toyota can bundle parts for their cars with Maruti models by forcing Suzuki to accept high specification parts, Toyota can then logically go for Cost cutting in their cars and improve profits. Also, Toyota group suppliers get entry to Maruti supplier base, again a win.
2) Toyota does not have to invest huge amounts to start selling a lower cost brand line Daihatsu. Suzuki is anyways competitive with Daihatsu in Japan. So, Maruti becomes low cost car supplier to Toyota.

I partly agree to what you say, but the differentiating factor between Toyota and Suzuki is in the quality of parts as well as cars. If toyota is accepting the same low cost spares from Suzuki suppliers, Toyota will not be a reak Toyota under the cover, it may look like one !

Toyota's Brezza could be named Urban Cruiser.

Toyota trademarks the name for its possible CUV:

Autocar has tendency to over estimate predictions.
Below picture is perfect example for the same.
Apart from Toyota logo and minor change in front grill design, I don't think Toyota Kirloskar motor will put much effort in current brezza.

I have always liked the Vitara Brezza but never ventured close to it due to low cost cutting done by Maruti Suzuki in its interior plastics and trim, lack of 6 air bags, and lack of proper CVT or torque converter 5 speed AT. I am hoping Toyota India while rebadging makes the effort of better safety, and plastics and convenience, then it's a sure shot winner, otherwise Toyota brand name going to get further diluted.

Going by the Baleno to Glanza incarnation, we should not be expecting any such changes. This will be a pure re-badging exercise (may be with some price rationalisation). Toyota has tasted success with the Glanza which does 2k+ units each month. They will not reinvent the wheel this time as well.

You're going to be disappointed. IT's going to be the same Brezza with S badges replaced with T badges.

However they received a lot of flak for Glanza so I'm expecting Toyota to come out with something more like a different grill pattern and maybe if dreams come true, a different bumper design like shows in render above.

PS: above has a pinch of salt.

'Urban Cruiser'?

Pretty lame name for a rebadged car! Hopefully, Toyota is not trying to pull any marketing stunts with 'Land Cruiser' brand pedigree!

That said, IMHO - Brezza is a better fit in the Toyota range as compared to the Baleno rebadged Glanza, especially if the 1.5 diesel arrives soon.

Right? It is the most insipid, uninspiring, and unimaginative name I have heard in a long time. It is bad enough that Toyota is being lazy and re-badging MS models. They could have at least put in the effort to come up with a nice name. After the 'Glanza' fiasco, it wouldn't have been very hard anyway.

Urban Cruiser? Sounds so dumb. Wonder how a rupees-2-crore Land Cruiser owner would take to seeing his ride rubbing shoulder with a 15 lakh Urban Cruiser at dealership and service centre. Also, some smart-elec aftermarket customizer would fabricate words 'Land" in the same size and font as "Urban" and we would have baby "Land" Cruisers all over the town.

re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

Toyota Urban Cruiser ready for August 2020 launch.

Toyota will bring a bit more changes than seen on the Baleno-Glanza re-badged project.

-Toyota's Urban Cruiser could also be the first of the compact SUV's to come with the hybrid tech on the manual version.

-Toyota Urban Cruiser will be altered in certain key areas.

-Will get more of a Toyota identity up-front, with relatively inexpensive-to-change 'soft parts’, like the plastic bumpers and grille

-Similar changes will reflect at the rear for differentiation with the Brezza.

-Toyota will use lighter colours and a few fresh ‘graphics’

Quote:
Parts like the headlights and tail-lights, which are more expensive to change, are likely to be only mildly altered, if at all. There will be no sheet-metal changes, with even alloy wheels carried over from Maruti Suzuki’s compact SUV.
Quote:
the manual version will almost certainly get an improved fuel economy rating from testing authority ARAI.
