Not all, atleast in a forum like Teambhp will comment on build quality of all Maruti's products. The build quality of Brezza has been well appreciated in other threads.

Exteriors actually look better than Brezza though Toyota should have put more effort in the interiors. A six airbag version with better quality dashboard could have made this slightly more interesting.

I think Brezza was the last Maruti model to be built upon the old Swift platform. Hence the portly waistline. Not the new Heartect platform.
Someone told me that the old Swift platform had longer load paths because of its longer side members and stiffer outriggers for frontal crash load dispersion.
Don't know how far true it is though.

I might be wrong but I believe brezza was either an all new platform or built on older Suzuki swift model ( international version ) and not the Indian Maruti swift as brezza has a stable 4 star rated structure.

Brezza is built on the Suzuki C Platform, same as the S-Cross and Vitara. Link (Maruti Vitara Brezza : Official Review) to Brezza review.

Re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

Brezza is based on the global Vitara platform - that's the reason for its odd man high score in the crash testing and overall kerb weight.

However, that 4 speed AT in 2020 is the Japs trolling us. 6 speed AT with 6 airbags would have made a very good car for the city instead. Nevertheless, I see it selling quite decently in current guise with the Toyota badge.

Make money with the least effort I guess! Well, you reap what you sow! And I meant that as a customer in this extremely skewed market! For some brands, we are quite naive and very easy to please. Peace!

What an absolute master stroke by Toyota!!!

It will be interesting to see September sales numbers and how the Mini T-Fort stacks up against the Brezza.

The interiors seem to be much better than the Brezza as well.

This is one sibling rivalry to watch out for.

Toyota India's updated portfolio, expect 2 more cars to join in 2021, courtesy Maruti Suzuki:

Re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

Its ( rivalry) not something to watch out for if it is a pre-decided affair. MSIL would have an agreement for the numbers of Brezza/ Urban Cruisers they would produce, so it wont help or hurt either party. A real rivalry is where the competitors are ravaged by each other and that brings to fore the core competence at various levels, strategic, tactical and technical. Like Tata vs Mahindra or MSIL vs Hyundai in the 4-15 lac segment.

Re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

Height of laziness by Toyota. They have so much tech that they could have brought into the Brezza but all they have done is a Fortuner like grill and Ms-Painted the interior brown. Toyota is like the kid in school who makes someone else do his homework for him and gets all the good grades. The Brezza being a Maruti will sell well with the Fortuner "Mini Me" look and rake in the coffers for Toyota who I wish would work harder to actually earn it. Anyways enough of my cribbing. I hope they get us a real affordable Toyota small SUV with much better (6 air-bagged and real hybrid tech) features in the future.

Re: Toyota to launch Urban Cruiser (rebadged Vitara Brezza) in FY 2020-21

After Glanza debuted with just a logo change, now a change in grille on a Maruti car has become a 'master-stroke' product from Toyota.

Our expectations from Toyota (below Innova segments) truly has hit rock bottom and how!

That said - Urban Cruiser should do decent sales because Brezza is quite a well rounded product from MSIL stable. Still looks ok, build quality is decent (and would have matched the sibling - SCross, if only the plastics were half as decent), the 1.5 petrol is very driveable, space and packaging is good too. The automatic, especially, is very boring to drive - but I doubt that target market for Toyota complains anyway.

If priced at similar levels as the Maruti - I would prefer Toyota for their superior service quality (Not network coverage, but transparent service practices and billing - the best I have experienced at one of their Bangalore centres).

Checked on Toyota's website. Seemed much better than Brezza.

The only two things different inside the Urban Cruiser -
  1. "T" logo on the steering wheel.
  2. New brown interior fabric shade (seats and arm rests).
