Confusing details aside, it appears only the 1.2 TSi will be replaced by the smaller capacity variant on Polo/Vento/Rapid (and retire the 1.6 MPi on the Rapid), while the vanilla Polo continues with the current engine tweaked for BS6 norms.

I'll be very surprised if regular Polo gets the TSi too.

Does the new facelift have the Euro Spec tail lamps, similar to the ones shown here (VW Polo GT TSI DIY: International Polo 6C Tail-Lights)?

If so, wonder if we'll be able to retrofit these back to the current facelift model?

Will this Polo finally get better ICE with reverse camera People may feel this car is dated, but there are very few hatchbacks with 4-star safety rating and exciting engine options for both petrol and diesel.

It appears that a lot of the parts on the camouflaged car have been picked up from the GTI parts bin. The rear bumper has a faux diffuser (without the exhaust opening) and the car also appears to be equipped with those little side skirts we see on the GTI (similar to the ones on the Baleno RS).

A picture of the front will help understand the proposed changes to the bumper. From previous patterns, we could say that the facelift may come with some form of the GTI bumper (the current Polo's front bumper for instance - a car that was facelifted in 2014-15 - comes with a version of the pre-facelift GTI bumper, the difference being the slats instead of the honeycomb inserts).

So here it is, VW starts testing its 1.0L TSI engine in India. The engine is likely to debut in Virtus for India. The new engine is a three-cylinder motor available in two states of tune abroad – 94hp and 115hp.

According to reports in Autocar India "Cars equipped with Volkswagen's new 1.0-litre BS-VI-compliant TSI engine have been spied undergoing road tests in India. These new engines are from the Volkswagen Group’s EA211 series of engines, which get a cast-aluminium block and cylinder head with an integrated exhaust manifold. The engines also have forged connecting rods and aluminium pistons and are more compact, lighter and generate less friction; thus making them more efficient than the current crop of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines."

The cars in the article are same as the ones spotted!

Failed to understand why they have camouflaged the hood & bumpers. Design looks the same, there might be some changes but everything is visible except for badges. 98% of Exterior looks the same. What are they hiding, stickers & chrome?

I can see a lot of Polo folks planning to swap to that Vento's front bumper! That's the last gen. GTI's front bumper.

I just hope with this update they finally copy skoda and give the Vento all black interiors. That brown and beige is looking seriously outdated and with this new sporty bumpers even more so.

The GT TSI has it why not just add the tartan and black in Vento as well.

GTI's sporty bumper doesn't gel well with Vento's classy rear design! Hope it looks better in flesh.

Will this facelift have diesel options or do they plan to stop diesels well ahead of BS6 norms?

Somehow I feel these are merely test mules for the new parts.

The Vento will continue to sport the classier front bumper and grille with the additional slat, which puts it in VW's "sedan-design" category.

It is likely that only the facelift Polo will come with the GTI bumper with a few tweaks. I could be wrong though.

Could this be a sportier Vento GLI with GTI bumpers and maybe a 1.5 TSI engine à la Jetta GLI? Now that would be cool

Why is VW still planning to facelift this generation of the Polo in India when the sixth generation Polo was launched internationally back in 2017? Am I missing something?

re: The 2019 VW Polo and Vento facelifts, now launched

I think this will be the last facelift for the Polo Vento before the all-new model comes after the T-Cross launch.

I dont expect VW to upgrade the current 1.5 diesel engines to BS-VI, which means both Polo and Vento diesels might get discontinued once BS-VI kicks in.

The new Polo is 4053mm, bigger than the 4m tax exemption limit. That really screwed up for Volkswagen in India.
