re: The 2019 VW Polo and Vento facelifts, now launched

I am sure no one would notice the "changes" made to the body if they had not camoflauged the vehicles.

I believe it is the trick from VW marketing team to remind people that this car is still in the market by putting on some colours and attracting attention to keep people interested.

Face-lifts of the mass market VAG products(Polo/Vento) coming in September. Not sure yet if the engine change (1.0L TSI) will debut now or in April 2020.

Kerala dealerships have increased the waiting period for Polo GT TSI to a whooping 5 months now. I really hope they improve the suspension components during this facelift as almost all seems to have the issue with suspension failing prematurely. The spy pics also doesn't show the presence of a rear view camera, nor any other notable updates. Maybe this is the introduction of the 1.0 TSI. If it is, hope the GT gets the 115hp tune.

Looking at the pictures, I can't really say anything is new on the outside. Have they introduced more features on the inside or is it just the new engine being BS6 compliant that's new? As a Polo owner, I'm disappointed as I would have expected a much bigger jump for a facelift - there's so much more one can get now!

With almost no new spy pics of Ameo, will VW keep the same version with new engines?

Just took a TD of the TSi. Planning to book one soon. However the SA and VW Noida who came said that there is no new bumpers or grilles with the TSi. Is it not introduced yet ?

The facelift is due to be launched anytime in September/ October. Atleast that's what my dealer says. He also said a new GT model with 1.0TSI Manual will be added. However, the DSG version will stick to the 1.2 TSI. I don't think this is true though.

re: The 2019 VW Polo and Vento facelifts, now launched

If that is the 4347th facelift of the Polo that is coming to India, I am really glad that I bought the 4346th iteration!!

VW still does not consider Indian roads worthy enough to offer LED/Projector headlights. Even VW seem to have run out of ideas to flog a dead horse now, as they are offering those Tosa alloys from a version older, which I really hope is just for those test cars.

From what I understand, the GTI fascia facelift will be offered only on the TSI version of the GT to begin with, which also may get down to a 1.0 TSI motor. GT TDI may not be an immediate or critical launch due to the BS 6 norms.

Irrespective, this will continue to be nothing more than a "Has Been" version of the global VW Polo.

Updated Polo and Vento launch on Sept 04.

Expect a higher number of creature comforts and convenience features on both as well in order to keep the models relevant in the face of increasing rivals

Based on the images, the new Polo and Vento are expected to get front styling and tail-lights that are reminiscent of the limited-edition high-performance Volkswagen GTI. Higher-spec variants of the new Polo and Vento are likely to get new design alloy wheels with a grey finish.

All variants of both cars will also get additional equipment in the form of front seat seatbelt reminders, rear parking sensors and a speed alert system.
Not Yet known if the 1.0L TSI engine will debut in this update, though VW has begun work on localising its BS6-compliant 1.0-litre TSI petrol motor – it’s available in 95hp and 115hp states of tune in international markets .

Looks good. The good thing about VAG is that their facelifts sometimes may be boring or late; but they are never an eyesore. The result is never poorer compared to the previous gen - which so often is the case with others (Latest being Hyundai iX25!).

As for the alloy wheels - VW must offer some sort of 2+2 year WHEEL AMC where their person visits every weekend and cleans them 4 alloys at customer's place. Otherwise maintaining these will be the only task in life.

I watched the EVO India Thrill Of Driving podcast in which VW India Boss Steffen Knapp mentioned that VW will soon launch a 1.0 TSI Polo with manual transmission. Will it launch along with this facelift?

The problem with Polo's face is that, it already is at its elegant best. There, really is nothing much you can do to lift that face further. All you can do is introduce some subtle elements to differentiate it from the previous version. VW just need to update the interior creature comforts to score higher with the competition. Current interiors are on par with competition; but they need some features to take it a notch higher. A USP. May be include a six airbag version. Atleast some from the i20 or Figo gang will jump ship.

According to ACI, for now it would only be the cosmetic changes, BS6 engines will kick in near the deadline. Any word on the BS 6 plans for TDI motors ? With the speculated hike in costs, will this go well over a million ?!

re: The 2019 VW Polo and Vento facelifts, now launched

We are looking at the same old car as 10 years ago plus some timely changes/minor updates w.r.t design in a country where,

1. Hyundai i20 has seen 3 generations and the all-new gen is around the corner.
2. Suzuki introduced Baleno
3. Toyota looks like gave up on Liva and started Hatchin Glanza
4. Honda Jazz is at least in 2nd gen

I have immense respect for VW for their timeless designs and solid build quality. The world had moved on VW, so as the Indian automobile scene. Please give us what rest of the world is getting.

Anyways, people will buy this for that sweet automatic on offer.

This facelift story reminds me of bollywood actors of the 70s and 80s who continued to try their luck with dyed hair and brighter clothes in the 90s ! Smell the coffee VW... You are very late to the party and if you don't bring in the next generation models (which FYI have been on sale for 2 years overseas), you can forget about the Indian market.

I saw the TROC in Italy recently and you have a winner in that ! Bring it without any delay
