re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

I generally reserve my comments untill I see the car in person, but I have got a feeling that this car is going to put the meme world on fire!!!

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

I had seen the concept last year at the Auto Expo Future S. Expectation be like:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...ml#post4352258 (Maruti @ Auto Expo 2018)

Reality:
Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs-58f5e395021a44fcbc03783a705de53e.jpeg

I dunno how this S-presso is based on the Future concept S. Why even bother with a concept if the end product is going to look nothing, not even faintly resembling the concept.

Frankly speaking, not many have liked the Future-S at that time. There is no symmetry in its design. Look at the A-pillar!

Compared to that, S-presso has a more 'digestable' design, IMO. The main problem is, Future S has a wider stance, while this narrow SPresso spoiled it. For a better stance of the car, width should be considerably more than the height.

Also, the decade-old design elements like flap type door handles, turn indicators on the side body panel etc adds to the 'cheapness'.

Meantime, another image. Source: Gaadiwaadi.

The KUV moment for Maruti.

To me this car just looks like a baby out of marriage of Maruti Ignis & Mahindra KUV, seriously! The front just resembles KUV & rear/side profile Ignis.

And Varun Dhawan is supposedly the brand ambassador for S-Presso, and he too was for KUV! Is this all co-incidence?!

How I wish it has been like this. Short in height, longer, wider, and wider tyres too...

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

I do not know how much flak I would get for this, but, it doesn't look ugly for me.

When I was 12, first gen Santro was launched, everyone around me teased it's looks, but, I loved the design. After few days, it had a good fan following.

Imagine this expresso is launched with amt and a cheap price tag, it isn't a bad choice for someone who is looking into redigo or kwid.
It has got a good ASS and what more you need for crawling city speeds like bangalore?

I would rather take risk with this car, on some market or narrow lane travel, instead of taking my big or expensive car. Taxi would not work out on some tasks.

We can all we want - but in the end, India pretty much comes home in a Maruti Suzuki so we might all end up eating humble pie. Bharat doesn't buy looks - it buys mileage, peace of mind, resale and some space.

Now I am seeing the KUV in a brand new light btw. And the Kwid.

This is sad, unfortunate, disappointing and I'm running out of expressions.

India's largest Automaker is Maruti.
Suzuki's largest/profitable market is India.

The cute and rugged JIMNY for the rest of the world.

But the S-Presso looks like a rude joke on people who buy it. It's like a punishment for India.

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

At the first look i thought this is photoshoped picture of Alto,

OMG this car should look better in higher versions, but the lower version picture is THE ugliest tin box on wheels. It will sell because its MS and its cheap and mileage will be zillion km/lt and so on. I will never buy and will never suggest this car to anyone.

The front facia, to some extent may be manageable to look at in the higher variants, but the backside is a mule face. Yuck.

It's plain ugly. No symmetry in design. But... it will sell as it is a Maruti. Will be another tin box, cheap, 25 kmpl in city, unsafe - but will sell.

Looks like the work of a student who forgot his homework and sketched some rubbish up. But when MSIL fights the Kwid, it doesn't need some wonderful design. Will this send the Kwid into limp mode like how the Creta demolished the Duster?

If there is a thread on weird and wacky models by manufacturers, this will definitely go there.

Maruti doesn't have design capabilities. They had a beautiful Zen, once. The original 800 was a looker, then esteem - first gen. All good designs. But once they start meddling, it becomes an 'Auto Rickshaw'. Don't they take inspiration from anyplace? Look at the Kwid, they shrunk a SUV so nicely. Wonder how Maruti's Electric cars will look like in the future!

No wonder Maruti's RC Bhargava had to make the comments on safety discussed here: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...as-mantra.html (Affordability at the cost of safety - RC Bhargava's mantra!)

It must have been painful to add ABS/Airbags to what looks like a strictly built to cost contraption.
