re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Ahhh now I remember some 2 decades ago, I bought a "potty" for my kids looking just like this; lo behold Maruti after 2 decades has modelled an S-Presso after a "potty", What a "pity"!

It looks like a mini Xuv3oo. They should have given it the mini Brezza look.

This doesn't look as bad as it was expected seeing the test mules. Front grill somewhat is Mahindra-ish, side profile reminds of Alto. Tyres look puny but expecting 15 inchers in entry level segment is asking for too much.

So what do we have here? Perfect recipe for success.

1. Brand Maruti- check
2. Excellent Mileage - check
3. SUV-ish looks - check
4. Features should be in line with Kwid atleast.- hopefully

If this is Alto replacement, it should be priced below WagonR & that might cannibalize some of the wagon's sales. But Maruti won't bother as long as the numbers go up overall.

high GC in a short wheelbase package, and therefore more prone to lift-off/turning turtle- check.

This looks very toyish. I mean you don't expect a wow look at this price point, but this looks very crude at the first glance. Almost like my daughter's toy car except for a missing thread at the rear or spring connected chaabi to propel the car forward.

This reminds me of that famous TV advertisement on non HD content being played on expensive TV.

"Dabba hai Dabba"

Jokes apart, I feel the top end will still look acceptable due to bigger wheels and premium treatment. But the base variants with those skinny profile tyres look funny.

Kwid has a better Stance and looks like an SUV( due to that duster like design).

What the heck is this thing. Somebody please tell Maruti that we are in 2020.
I feel Renault-Nissan has mastered the art of making low cost good looking cars with RediGo, Kwid and Triber. Maruti needs a page from their book. Don’t know why but to me Maruti’s future looks bleaker with every new launch they make these days.

And is it going to come with some other name? The name on boot space doesn't look like to be S-Presso.

How the hell did this make it to the "execution" stage. Maruti is already 30% down on numbers and then "THIS" happens. This makes the Chinese Creta look "angelic"!

I am just wondering how easy it will be to topple this. Wafer thin tyres and a tall stance and ofcourse, the soft suspension for India.

Wow! Thank you for sharing the shots but I must say the car looks strange. Yes, Stranger than Ignis!! This would have been DOA if it did not have the Suzuki badge, don’t think it will sell as good as WagonR or Alto.

Hoping they do not overdo chrome, give good size tyres atleast on the top variant (All the cheap Maruti's are severely under-tired) and make ABS-Airbags Standard. Think this will weight around 700-750 kg as Alto so have no good hopes from the build quality.

Renault will be relieved seeing these spy shots!

So basically this is an Alto on High Heals ! Looks like its built to a cost and light weight. This car would fly off in a Hurricane

Renault had done a way better job with the Kwid.

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Looks terrible, much like the Alto 800. Seems to be done by the same team or definitely by keeping that car as the base. Design wise, the Kwid trumps this hands down, with what is a mature looking, proportional design. This on the other hand is like a breadbox on wheels.
Seems like it will be targeted at the Tier 3/4 market. Unfortunately for Maruti, that market is severely depressed these days.
Feels like the era of Maruti dominance is soon coming to an end.
