re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Thanks Carma for the video. As an owner of tata nano for 10 years, I can definitely say this is tata nano 2.0. The car is narrow, tall and suits our present road conditions but looks like yuck. If priced at 2+ lks it makes sense. Good luck maruti. Why cant they get a jimny shape? ?

This looks like Wagon R on steroids. I haven't read through the thread and may have mentioned it, but is it made on the same wagon r platform?

re: Maruti S-Presso, the SUV'ish hatchback. EDIT : Launched at Rs. 3.69 lakhs

Thanks for the video!
Few observations:

1. The rear wheel wells have no cladding at all! This makes the rear wheels appear smaller than the front ones.

2. No rear wiper or front fog lamps on any variant.

3. Rubber lining seems to be present on the door as well as the door frame.

4. The power window switch placement is an ergonomic nightmare.

5. They have placed the AC vents above the dashboard. This is a thoughtful move- in the wagonR and Ignis, the vents freeze the driver's hands, and don't cool the cabin due to their awkward positioning.

6. No temperature gauge in the MID.

7. No keyhole on the left side.

Overall it seems to be a decent package, provided it is priced well.

Its on heartect platform, but i dont think wagon r is this tall. I am in no way a potential customer, so cant comment on dynamics for this segment. I bought a nano in 2009 just as my 4th car, and love its practicality, this seems a proper next gen nano.

I feel this is one rare car which looks much uglier without the front Chrome grille, it appears as if somebody smashed it's teeth

11. No vanity mirror
12. No rear power windows even on range topping variant.
13. No headlight leveling switch. (Unless it's on headlight stock)
List of NOs is growing everyday.

Varun Dhawan was also the brand ambassador for KUV1OO & now Maruti plans to use him for the S-Presso

Fingers crossed

No rear speakers or bottle holders in rear door pockets, disproportionately large steering wheel for the car's overall size. Auto-rickshaw spec wheels.

What really takes the cake is the placement of the front power window switches. On the dashboard besides the hazard button! I won't be surprised to see a lot of S-Pressos with hazard lights on - especially at the toll booths . Of course, that is if a lot of them sell at all. For once I think Maruti has managed to make a car that has all potential to fail in the market.

MSIL says this is the first car truly designed in India from them. I feel really sorry for their design department recruitment head I'm afraid.

In this video, the car looks good in my honest opinion when I compare it to Alto k10. If I were in the market for a mini hatch, I would prefer this over Alto. This looks like the practical wagon R for a congested city as the new wagon R is too large in my opinion.

Celerio is already there & it looks like a real car too. This is simply an AltoK10 with new body panels. Its quite lame. Other than the touchscreen infotainment, this thing isn't offering anything over the AltoK10 at all. One could get the HU changed for 10k in an Alto anywhere to a good one. Remember - this contraption is even lighter than the Alto800! Let alone AltoK10. I'd pick up the AltoK10 or Celerio simply for the extra few grams of steel.

Starting price is lesser than my expectation. Kwid 1.0L BS-4 is a good 50K costlier.

All the "cheapness" in the design is translated to the pricing as well, which is good for the sales.
