Careplay is definitely an error. Can't think of screwing up a 3rd party Trademarked name.

I was told the same in a showroom at Bengaluru. Reason being the non-availability of BS6 Diesel.
They said that using the existing BS4 diesel will damage the filters and the engine components, and therefore they are not delivering the BS6 cars right-away, while other car manufacturers are delivering the BS6 cars which are getting stalled due to the less refined BS4 Diesel / petrol.

When I did my research,
Quote:
BS4 diesel has a much higher Sulphur traces (50 ppm), whereas BS6 diesel contains only 10 ppm of Sulphur, and Sulphur in diesel cars acts as a lubricant for diesel injector. Using BS6 diesel in a BS4 car will cause the injector to wear out prematurely due to less lubrication (low sulphur).

There are concerns among new car buyers that a BS6 car using BS4 fuel could spell trouble for the engine. According to Maruti, Hyundai and Kia, BS6-compliant petrol vehicles can run on BS4 fuel without any problems to the engine.
In case of diesel cars, carmakers have conflicting opinions. For instance, Kia says the BS6-compliant diesel Seltos has been tested with BS4 fuel for 1 lakh kilometres without any problems. Their sister company Hyundai, on the other hand, has raised concerns about using BS4 fuel in a BS6 engine, saying it will eventually lead to problems.
We recommend waiting till BS6 fuel is available throughout India before buying a BS6 diesel car.

And in the meanwhile,
Quote:
The BS-VI grade diesel and petrol produced by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) will be available in the retail outlets of oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Karnataka by March 1, according to M Venkatesh, Managing Director of the company.

Something's not right, several showrooms already have received BS6 Nexon demo cars. Either Tata has indeed goofed up or is trying to push unsold inventory.

Must likely be the BS6 petrol cars not diesel. I don't think there's anything wrong in deferring the sale of the BS6 diesel till the requisite fuel comes out.

Quoting my own post on 12th January from the Altroz thread:

It's confirmed now. The BS-6 Revotron sees a bump of 10PS from the earlier BS-4 iteration.

What will it take for Tata to add those damn steering mounted controls back on XMA. Brezza automatic will be launched across variants and will pull crowds to their showrooms.

TATA Nexon loses out to Ford EcoSport while Mahindra's XUV300 comes close enough in Jan-20 sale/dispatches.

Re: Tata Nexon Facelift spied. EDIT: Launched at Rs 6.95 lakh

I have a feeling that with the new BS6 pricing, a fully loaded Nexon that crosses 10 lac rs on road suddenly starts appearing to be out of the VFM equation. While I'll say it's pricing is competitive considering the amazing safety features and sound system it offers, Tata will have to rework the feature distribution across variants, or give it the optional packs like those for Altroz to ensure that a customer who walks in to buy a Nexon, ends up buying a variant + features that's affordable for him.

As for the numbers above, I think this months numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt considering that for many models the dispatched were held for the BS6 transition and that might have impacted the regular floe of supplies.

And also presently Tata Motors is the only manufacturer to release retail numbers instead of wholesales numbers.

Re: Tata Nexon Facelift spied. EDIT: Launched at Rs 6.95 lakh

The facelift looks great, but it is expensive for what it offers. No longer looks VFM. Tata motors product strategy team needs to be aggressive if they want leadership in at least one segment.

At these prices, the Nexon automatics should have:
1. A smooth, efficient torque converter or even a CVT - an AMT is not justified at these prices. The competition understands this, and will take away sales by telling buyers to buy an automatic worth their money. Not the kind of cheap manual auto that even an Alto uses.
2. Take the safety first image to the next level by including adaptive cruise and AEB. The electronic brake management part of the features are already there for ABS, brake wipe, ESC type features. Only needs addition of forward radar sensor and some code to the ECU.
3. Stop advertising entry 6.95 lac type prices for a car that costs nearly 15Lac on road. You are hurting the brand image of Nexon, just like nano suffered from 1lac car image. Nobody wants to spend 15Lacs and have his neighbours think he’s bought a 7-8 lac rupee car.

Then it must be two OEMs as of now. Gradually whole industry will shift to retail numbers instead of wolesale numbers.
