Re: Volkswagen Group plans to merge all passenger car entities in India

How to say a lot without actually saying anything:

Quote:

SKODA AUTO INDIA PROJECT 2.0

We went through the metamorphosis and now here we have a completely new redesigned dealer network!

We have redesigned our entire dealer network as per the exclusively and aspirational new CICD of the brand. SKODA has invested over INR 1,200 million along with its dealership partners to create the largest rebranding campaign in its history in India so far. Keeping in mind, the new SKODA dealership facilities are friendly, bright, inviting and customer-centric.

We’ve given highest priority to the functionality, clear orientation, and transparency as we’ve successfully rebranded our entire network of 63 sales and 61 service touchpoints across 53 cities in India as per the new Corporate Identity and Design (CICD)

With the ‘INDIA 2.0’ project, we aim to enhance and intensify the overall customer experience, starting from the corporate architecture, functional interiors, and rationalized business processes. Apart from that, the new dealership design architectural concept reflects the new philosophy expressed in the slogan, “Simply Clever with a Human Touch”.

The designs now follow function. All the new architectural designs at the dealership facility are characterized by clear and simple shapes, a harmonious color concept, modular design features, and a contemporary lighting concept. When it comes to the new exteriors of the SKODA dealerships will be a powerful statement of the brand both during the day and night i.e. clear, transparent, modern, and open.

SKODA is placing increasing emphasis on enhancing the emotional appeal of the brand as an addition to sustaining the brand’s proven strengths. This is conveyed by the sophisticated and logical arrangement of all the key elements, business areas, customer zones, and the use of cutting-edge technology.

What creates an inviting atmosphere is the new design features, high-quality materials, architectural graphic elements, warm wooden tones, and effective lighting solutions. The highlights of the new interiors of SKODA showrooms will now be fresh hues, clarity, openness, and transparency.

As of now the 4 models on sale in India are ŠKODA SUPERB, ŠKODA OCTAVIA, ŠKODA RAPID and SKODA KODIAQ

Here’s an insight from Mr. Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service, and Marketing, ŠKODA Auto India Pvt Ltd. about redesigning the dealer network. He says, "ŠKODA has successfully rebranded its entire network of dealership facilities with a Fresh, Modern, and ‘Simply Clever’ layout that elevates the presentation of the brand and is an important cornerstone of the ŠKODA led ‘INDIA 2.0’ project. Through our redesigned dealership network we are focusing on strengthening the brand in India while working closely with our channel partners to guarantee sustainability. The transformation of our sales and service facilities envisioned to provide enhanced customer experience is rated positively by our customers, dealer partners, and sales and service personnel.” added, Mr. Hollis”.

Re: Volkswagen Group plans to merge all passenger car entities in India

This could have been done way back when VW entered the Indian market with the Polo. Two brands under a single entity would have significantly improved their scale of operations, efficiency and service quality. Mergers are really expensive and are quite time and energy intensive. They could have used this money for dealer, product and service quality improvement. Recalling the thread where some bhpians visited the Toyota Kirloskar campus where the mechanics were trained so well that they knew the vehicles they were servicing inside out.

Wish the Indian arm of VW group woke up from their funk and really updated their product line by bringing it to at least par with that of their global lineup instead of this corporate restructuring which is fooling no one. Guess VW is happy with the sales of Polo GT most of which would be bought by bhpians (and Keralites maybe- especially Kochi) even though it's almost a decade old.

Classic case of lack of hindsight as well as forward thinking vision. Waste of time, money and legal resources.

Perhaps I have missed the discussion, so for the end VW/Skoda customer, what is different in terms of after-sales experience? Do they get any additional flexibility of having the vehicles serviced by either brand's dealers?

In terms of regular maintenance and diagnosis, or even with respect to workshop equipment / personnel training, VW/Skoda/Audi models sharing similar platforms are near identical vehicles. Customers could benefit if they opened up official maintenance through multiple brand channels, like they do in Europe for example.

Will prioritise expansion with current dealer partners. VW Group dealers will also be part of expansion plans

Quote:
Manolito Vujicic, brand head for Porsche India, said “We have six dealer partners and rather than add (new partners) we will work with them to expand the network.”

Porsche will also leverage the service network of VW Group brands to increase its service spread across the country. “We are VW Group, so we can and we will also use the group’s existing service network to expand our footprint”.

He further added “we have identified white spaces all around the country and we are drawing up plans to address these”.
