Citroen are known for their great suspension and Renault have shown us time and again in the past, that the French know more than a thing or two about building cars with great suspension for our roads. So hoping this is another car with a great suspension that allows us to travel comfortably over our broken roads.

Correct. If I was to make choices, I'd choose the Citroen just for the Ride Quality.
The several quirks they come with are also smile inducing. French approach interior design quite differently and I hope more get to see it.

Each of the 10 dealerships will have a Citroen classic car on display, in a move to highlight the brand's heritage. Service centres and owners will be supported via Citroen's mobile service facility and road-side assistance. More dealerships and service centres will be added once sales trends set in.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

As far as I know the Chandigarh dealer has also been finalised and should be starting operations by the middle of this year.

It will be interesting to see how Citroen positions its first product.
I don't expect them to play in the value-for-money market but at the same time I don't think that pricing the C5 at a huge premium is going to help their cause. At best they will want to be in the almost-premium category occupied by VW, Skoda or even Jeep.

Citroen has also confirmed that upcoming models will be underpinned by the C-Cubed platform and will have both petrol and diesel engine options

we are already manufacturing the diesel engine at the Hosur plant. We are looking at localisation levels of 90 per cent -100 per cent in our cars for India

The Citroen C5 Aircross will also be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 177 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque and will be mated to an eight-speed torque convertor automatic unit. The petrol version will be added later to the line-up

The C5 isn't about sales, just a strategy. Same as Koleos for Renault, a brand positioning exercise. Also explains the limited number of dealerships to start. There will be more promotions than actual sales. I doubt it's manufactured in their Chennai plant even.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

It is impossible for a new player to succeed in India unless they have a very good global reputation. Kia could succeed only because almost everyone knows that it is Hyundai's sister concern. Regarding mg, SIAC has very deep pockets. Still I don't regard the brand as firmly established in India. No hopes, from Citroen. Nearly impossible for people to spend big money on an unknown brand.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Kia and MG got footholds as they did research the market well and came up with products what the Indian buyers wanted. Kia came up with a wide spread with multiple engine options, variants, gearboxes and had a very wide price range starting from 10Lakhs to 20Lakhs+. The Seltos design, performance and features were much better when compared to even its sibling from Hyundai.
Similarly, MG marketed its British pedigree, and came up with innovative schemes like warranty and buy-back to induce confidence in the market. Their cars came feature loaded, some features were first time in the segment and came at a good price.
Unless Citroen comes up with great pricing, their products are likely to bomb. If they want to play only on low volumes, which I feel they are, they are following the footsteps of Jeep (Compass).

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Has Citroen started any brand building exercises? Have they started doing any advertisements?

MG really did some serious brand building exercises although they did fool people in the process with the British pedigree nonsense.

Wonder what Citroen is planning.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Citroen Ramani appears to be the dealership in Chennai based on my google search. The dealer seems to be building a website under the name and style of citroen-ramani.com

As regards C5 Aircross, it is expected to be priced similar to VW T-Roc if not higher.

I am more keen on the other model which is expected to be launched this year - a sub 4 mtr SUV for the following reasons.
a) Unique feature of Connected CAM - a Dashcam fitted in Rear View Mirror.
b) Expecting India made Citroen vehicles to have the same class leading suspension.
c) It is rumored to come with the 3 cylinder1.2 litre Pure Tech Direct Injection Turbo petrol engine which won the International Engine of the year award for 4 consecutive years from 2015 to 2018 in the 1.0 litre to 1.4 litre category.
d) reported to be benchmarking engine refinement and fuel efficiency against Maruti's engine. At the same time, the build quality could be comparable to VW/Skoda/Fiat/Ford.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Saw this advertisement in the newspaper today, the first from Citroen I have come across so far. Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021-20210124_132912.jpg
Some takeaways:
- C5 aircross to be launched in the first quarter of this year.
- The car is comfort oriented and will be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, blind spot monitoring system, hands-free parking, 3 individually adjustable rear seats, and is claimed to give a 'flying carpet effect' thanks to a superior suspension.

I think the C5 can sell in good numbers if priced on par with the Karoq. Looking forward to seeing a new car brand in India
