The Range Rover Velar was launched in India in December 2017. On the inside, the SUV comes equipped with a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, Wi-Fi, Meridian audio system, 4-zone automatic climate control with cabin air ionisation and leather upholstery.

The Velar R-Dynamic S is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 247 BHP and 365 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 177 BHP and 430 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

R-Dynamic S variant was available earlier in the CBU format as well, and was priced at 85.18 lakhs for both the diesel and petrol options.

Price reduction of 12.71 lakhs then, compared to the original launch pricing.

Finally!! I hope this doesn’t suffer the fate of the F-pace which although priced well as a CKD hasn’t clicked with the market.
The velar is a much better product, seems feature loaded and decently priced now.
I reckon the petrol will be much better choice to pick

I’m surprised they are giving 20inch wheels, even the CBUs had 19s.
Does the velar have air suspension?
Anyone got the ckd spec sheet pdf?

No, not even an option given it's CKD. Nor the cooled seats.

A little JLR needs to revisit their strategy of being different than Germans. I am not sure if an average buyer in this segment will be paying a premium to them over regular Germans for that exclusivity. They have made a lot of sales on list price but will need numbers going forward if they have to remain meaningful. Of all the premium brands, I have found their dealers mostly restricting to the cartel as far retail discounts are concerned. Even today, when they are under so much pressure, Zero discounts on RR Sports or Vogue.

Thanks for sharing. I spec'ed as per this sheet on RR UK website and the price came to 63,000 GBP which as per todays forex rates comes to approx 57 lakhs.

I think a 25% higher price for Indian CKD is pretty fair given our high duty structure even for CKDs.

If you compare it to the germans, the UK price v/s India CKD price is far more. Usually around the 50 to 100% mark up.
Example: Similarly loaded S350d L in UK costs 73L while in India the car costs 1.33 ex-showroom!

Now I know why they were testing a non-camo Velar in the wee hours of the morning outside JLR plant in Pimpri.

Saw it sporting green plates last weekend, leaving the JLR plant and then the driver giving it full beans (my early morning biking route goes past there).

I am assuming it was one of their CKD Velars.

Green plates are only for EVs. Perhaps these are testing one for future launch
