What are the power figures of this new 1.2L dual jet engine? I couldn't find it in the circular shared above.

But the engine specifications for the 1.2 DualJet Hybrid for the Indian market is still not known.
Even if we assume to be same as the one sold abroad (~89 bhp), we only get an approx 7 percent gain in power.

What is the reason behind offering both these engines if the older one is now BS-VI compliant? I don't see many people going for the Dualjet engine, because of the price difference. Only a few tech savvy will opt for it.

Is Maruti planning to move to the Dualjet engine gradually? Can someone shed some light?

The premium Dual Jet engine with its class leading fuel economy will lose out to its competitors in pricing.

To match competition with pricing they have retained K12B engine.

Over time, when Competition switches to BSVI compliant engines the true price comparison will emerge.
Going forward, based on sales Maruti Suzuki will take a call on the rationalizing its power-trains, if needed.

One of the reasons for the larger hike for the dualjet could be that the motor has a displacement larget than 1199cc thereby attracting higher tariffs. As per the autocar report above it displaces 1242cc. So in essence the car might have not qualified for the tax benefits under the sub 4m rule.

This news was speculated in one of my earlier posts link (The Maruti Baleno Facelift, now launched @ 5.45 lakhs), though it was meant to be for facelift version.

Good that the market leader has taken the lead in launching BS VI before the deadline.

Imagine! And when the government was thinking of rolling out BS-6, the entire auto industry was up in arms, crying about how much more expensive its going to make cars (even petrol), how the time is too less, how our fuel quality will never make it effective and what not.

The only way to push the auto industry is legislation. Let them whine all they want.

Is this the first time Li-ion battery is being fitted in the mild-hybrid? What type of battery was fitted to the Ciaz SHVS? Does this still have a Lead Acid starter battery?

I think the automakers have always said that BS-VI petrol cars will be expensive by 25-30k. Under 20k is very good but not very far off.

It will be interesting to see the price gap in diesels. I somehow cannot come to terms with a 1-lacs rupee price increase in Diesels because of BS-VI. The reality will be out soon but i 100% agree with your statement on the legislation part.

Looks like Swift is next in line to receive this Dualjet engine. Spotted the current gen white Swift petrol (No camo, white number plates, no DDiS badges) running on NH-8 this afternoon. There were wires and pipes hanging out of the boot lid, reaching for the exhaust.

Guys, the dualjet engine on the Indian Baleno is based on the old 1197cc block. The head and intake manifold etc are changed. It's not the 1242cc Block which we are getting.

Power figures for the dualjet are 89PS/113Nm torque, as opposed to 84PS/113Nm of the normal car. What's also interesting is that the DualJet makes its peak torque at 4400rpm, as opposed to 4200 of the standard car.

The car equipped with dualjet engine is 25kg heavier than the regular 1.2 MT's comparable variants.

I am also being told that this new dualjet engine is codenamed the K12N, as opposed to the K12C which is being reported in Media.

Shashi

So for 89K rupees more, all we get is an additional battery with Start/Stop feature and increased fuel efficiency by a couple of kms. Costly I would say!

Let's wait for the drive reports.

Wrong information by Autocar India. They just copied the figures of International variant.

Leoshashi is right. Attaching the screenshot from Nexa Website which confirms the same.

Let me enlist the differences

1. Two injectors per cylinder(that's what dualjet stands for). Different head and intake manifold design.

2. Dual VVT. Old K12 had VVT only on the intake side, this one has on both intake and exhaust side.

3. Li Ion battery and associated hardware. The battery alone costs 53k as of now.

Shashi
