VFM within the models is only when a customer is fixated on the brand.

Otherwise there is Hyundai's Venue with a much cheaper 1.2 or a performance oriented 1.0 and they also have a BS6 diesel motor ready.

re: Maruti Vitara Brezza 1.5L petrol. Edit: Launched at Rs 7.34 lakh

Vitara is a great car. Brezza took the good bits of Vitara, localized the production, cut it to sub-4-meter, plonked Fiat's 1.3 MJD and created a sales champion. But the future with BS6 kicking in, they no longer can use 1.3 MJD. Neither they can license BS6 compliant diesel at this price point.

It is a tricky road ahead. Petrol and SUV have not worked wonders for any of the brands including Maruti Suzuki. Remember Grand Vitara launch multiple gens in India only do show dismal sales numbers and finally discontinued all of them. Even today petrol SUVs make a very small percent of the total SUV sales.

I'm very certain that the sales number will take a considerable hit if Vitara is only offered in a Petrol engine. Not just Vitara - Swift, DZire, Baleno, S-Cross, Ciaz will also decline. Smart Hybrid and other trickery will not help much. A and B (Petrol) segments will be unaffected. Suzuki has not shown much interest in EV tech either. SO the road ahead for Maruti Suzuki is to leverage their existing reputation and sell tons of cars to risk aversive Aam Junta who are too scared to try a non-MS brand.

I would request you to see the sales of 15 -20 lakhs SUV segment - Seltos which is selling Petrol to Diesel at 51:49 ratio

The Brezza has nothing in common to the Grand Vitara . These are 2 entirely different cars . Please check your background info before posting.

Isn't the Brezza based on the platform of the Grand Vitara. I remember reading about it on this forum where this was given as the explanation for it's 4 star NCAP rating versus all the others 2/3 stars that MS manages with its Heartech platform.

You have taken my post out of context. I didn't mean Vitara and Brezza are same cars with slight modifications. I meant the car just borrows certain characteristics. Like people say Creta looks like a small brother of Tuscon or Santa Fe. They are not meaning they are same.

Thanks for highlighting. Is there a breakdown between Petrol vs. Diesel in TBHP Sales thread? I have not noticed it, can you quote it for me? Thanks.

Is this true only for Seltos or all other SUVs?

Something fishy here!! It's been three days since Rushlane reported this. If this version has indeed started reaching dealerships (even one would do), by now there would've been a flood of youtube videos. Could this be just a mod job??

No I recently got to know from my dealer that after December, no new stocks of current Brezza (1.3 mjd) will arrive at their stockyard. Whatever remaining stock Maruti and Dealers have will be exhausted soon.

They will be asking people to book the new Brezza petrol if they want. As per him, there is a considerable portion of people who were not interested in the fuel type of the Brezza starting from day one, that was a consideration in rural market.

Brezza petrol is too late to the party. This should have been launched at least 1-1.5 year back when the Brezza had novelty factor. Now a days too many of them on road and lot of choices in the price bracket.

PS: Why the badge is hidden? Looks like Toyota badge will be added on demand

I completely agree about the novelty bit. But for a non-novel product, 10K monthly sales is damn good that too with an old Diesel engine.

XL6 and Ertiga, both now come with 1.5L BS6 petrol engine. For Ertiga, difference between 1.5L BS4 diesel and 1.5L BS6 petrol is 1.6 lac ex-showroom. As Brezza has 1.2L diesel BS4(and not 1.5L diesel), so I will expect 1.5L BS6 petrol should be 100k cheaper than present 1.2 L BS4 diesel. Let's see why.

Feature wise Brezza ZDI+ is similar to Hyundai Venue SX (2nd top).
Hyundai Venue turbo petrol SX costs 9.56 L ex-showroom. It has a sunroof too and engine with 120 bhp and 170 nm torque.
New petrol Brezza will be having 1.5L engine with 103 bhp and 117nm torque. Brezaa ZDI+ at present has ex-showroom price of 9.93L and no sun-roof.

If present spec Breza ZDI+ changes to 1.5L petrol engine and wants to be competitive with Venue SX which is having much better engine, a sunroof and sells for 9.56 lacs, top spec Brezza ZXI+ should not be more than 9 lac ex-showroom.

This stop gap petrol engine might not garner as much sales as the outgoing model, atleast down here in the south, where diesel is still the preferred fuel of choice in most Tier-2/Tier-3 cities.

I checked the registration number and the details revealed that the car in question was registered in 2016. Additionally, the colour is originally white so the orange and black combo seems to be a wrap/paintjob. This is nothing but a modified Brezza.
