Even the refreshed Brezza looks tired.
No amount of pancake makeup and botox shots will give it the youthful appeal of its new competitors viz; the Hyundai Venue, the Kia sub 4m, the HBX from TML, heck, even the refreshed Nexon.
The Brezza just lacks the dynamic appeal & design flair of the new kids in the block.

Details about the fuel efficiency of Vitara Brezza petrol are revealed.

Maruti claims a fuel efficiency figure of 17.03 kmpl for the MT and 18.76kmpl for the AT variants.

If the above FE figure is correct, I believe the Brezza MT to be the worst in terms of FE. IMO the FE figure is too low despite having SHVS hybrid system.

Comes with the same old cluster, just with a different tacho marked till 8k RPM, compatible for a petrol.

Thanks this is downright disappointing. I mean is this all that Maruti could come up in 4 years?

On the other hand, is this a strategy to keep costs in check compared to competition given that it's a petrol, no tax benefits and more importantly mileage will not be better than competition. They probably want to keep the Diesel customers intact and I guess a full blown facelift would have driven costs significantly up and would have driven Maruti customers away to competition.

Or a strategy to come up with a full blown Nexa facelift version later in the year?

AT mileage(18.76) is more than manual one(17.03) as only AT is coming with SVHS. Manual Brezza will not be having SVHS, maybe to keep the pricing down of manual one.
Torque converter decreases the mileage for sure, but addition of SVHS to AT has bumped its mileage a lot it seems.

If you see new Brezza pics, only AT cars have badging of SmartHybrid at rear.

Indeed. That's quite disappointing since not only will it cause a huge difference in price between similar MT and AT variants, but also cause the MT to be sluggish while returning bad fuel efficiency. The Li Ion battery costs a whopping 50k and the ISG and associated hardware isn't cheap either.

One main reason of the K15 engine having good bottom end in cars like Ertiga and XL6 was the presence of this Li Ion setup. How much that effect is, remains to be seen. What will make matters worse for Brezza is heavy kerb weight and fatter, larger rubber.

Absence of this SHVS system meant Maruti had another reason to skimp on the color TFT screen like they have in the Ertiga/Ciaz.

Now another rumour is that even the S Cross will get this same setup of MT coming without the Smart Hybrid.

Truly half hearted attempt by MSIL. When the ARAI figure is 17.xx kmpl, real world mileage, specially in city will definitely be in 11-12kmpl range. They will have to bring the diesel sooner than anticipated else they will suffer heavily as the competition is better equipped in almost every way.

I was reading about the AT and nowhere it is mentioned about TCS! The Ciaz AT and the Ertiga AT come with TCS. So why has it been skipped on Brezza AT where it would be needed the most?

Brezza AT's dashboard. There is no TCS switch. The only extra switch is of Auto Start-Stop mechanism that has been put after removing the parking switch. (Thanks to Mr. Vickey Patel of X-Roaders) for the image.

So does it mean that there is no TCS in Brezza AT or it will be always on and cannot be switched off or the TCS switch is located somewhere else?

Totally agree with the low mileage. The most important selling point for Maruti Suzuki cars is the mileage (Kitna deti Hai). These figures point out otherwise.

What is the actual torque boost because of the SVHS ? Is it a 48V system- that would make it more than a 'mild' hybrid.

Thank God for torque converter! Better an archaic 4-speed TC than an AMT. Brezza decals on the sides look good but font size is a tad big for a car of this size. Also, they should have put in Baleno's instrument cluster which looks so nice.

The SHVS (version with Li-Ion battery)we get in India is a12V system. Not sure about the torque output but the MGU is rated at 1.7kW.
