Re: 2020 Hyundai Creta / ix25 breaks cover

Folks,

Any news around new Creta launch in India? Any possibility of getting it by early next year? I'm looking for 5 seater petrol AT and Creta is a good contender. While newer options available in market like Seltos and Hector - Pricing for Seltos is yet to be reveal and there's already good waiting for the Hector. Looking at long term reliability, Creta is strong contender and I wouldn't mind waiting till early next year.

Aren't these power figures a bit disappointing if true? They are in Nexon/EcoSport territory! I think even now the Nexon Diesel's torque output of 260Nm is on par with the Creta 1.6CRDi. (I may be wrong.)

I was expecting the car to come with even more power. Especially since it's key competition - Hector, Harrier, XUV500 are all above 140PS.

Hey Reinhard, Of course these power and torque figures are a bit disappointing when compared to Hector,Harrier and XUV500 but you are forgetting one important thing "Weight".

All the three SUVs weigh in between 1675 kg to 1785 kg with Harrier being the lightest and the XUV500 being the heaviest. The Creta weighs 1350 kg while the Seltos weighs 1315 kg. Due to this Creta's power to weight ratio is better than all its competitors except the Hector.

So if Hyundai manages to bring the next gen Creta's kerb weight at Seltos's level then I think even with 115 hp it will be plenty fast for our roads. Of course when it comes to in gear acceleration the Creta falls behind its competitors due to its poorer torque to weight ratio. But the Seltos is at the top of the charts for in gear acceleration runs. All these figures/results I have taken from Autocarindia's mega comparison test.

So if Hyundai manages to mimic Kia's tuning on its next gen Creta with BS6 then I think even with 115 hp it will be a very fast crossover. According to a rumor Hyundai is developing a 7 seat variant of the next gen Creta. So let's hope they bring a more powerful engine for the same.

Agreed of course. Anyway thats still a compromise as a lighter build inherently kills ride quality & stability at high speeds.

My primary comparison was with XUV3oo and Nexon. It doesn't "look nice" when a 17L OTR price car has engine specifications in range of a 10L car. To a mechanical oriented guy like me, thats like paying 7L extra for a tablet & mobile charger!

Re: 2020 Hyundai Creta / ix25 breaks cover

It looks like a bigger Venue at the first glance. Creta has a distinct identity and Hyundai should not make look similar to Venue.

Hate to admit it, it does look better as the times goes !!! Interior looks great for a production model Hope pricing doesn't go Jeep Compass territory.

Although most of us are not big fans of the way the new Creta looks, I must admit that the interiors look very good!
I think the MG Hector should be very worried! As a Car, the MG Hector has banked too much on its connected car tech, the large Screen and the likes. If customers gets an option of all this in a Creta, then why the Hector? Obviously the space on offer in the Hector is far superior, but the Creta is not uncomfortable by any standard. Its got space that you need. And in terms of looks, well, if the Indian market is being favourable to the Venue and the S Presso, then I dont think the looks of the New Creta should stop it from selling well.

Yes, but lighter build also means better fuel efficiency which is the only thing the aam aadmi cares about.

Re: 2020 Hyundai Creta / ix25 breaks cover

Im not one for this 'all touch panel' interior ! Ive used by bro in laws Volvo XC60 and its very difficult to operate the AC and music on the go ! Honestly some physical buttons are a must ! Even the new Audis have this setup and many journalists have expressed their displeasure at the system.

I like the way the digital dials have been lifted of the new BMWs !
Im sure BMW would have a patent on the shape ?

Overall the new Creta doesn't hit the sweet spot like the Seltos has and i think they may have gone overboard with everything (interior and exterior)

Though I give a thumbs up to Hyundai for providing digital dials in the new Creta, I am not so sure about their readability especially the counterclockwise tachometer. And no wonder that Hyundai took inspiration from BMW since Mr. Schreyer has been working with Kia/Hyundai as the head of design for a long time now.

As far as the exterior styling goes, I too feel that Hyundai has gone completely overboard with the styling. They should have played it safe like they have with the current Creta. Still I will reserve my judgment till I see one in the flesh. Auto Expo ain't that far away.

Re: 2020 Hyundai Creta / ix25 breaks cover

Hyundai seems to be veering towards Venue style grill/ design. This new car looks like a bigger Venue!

People call Venue as "Baby Creta", they might call this new one as "Bigboy Venue"!
