Riding on the success of TRIBER, Renault to show case its compact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The HBC will be unveiled in a near production-ready concept form at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, with a market launch subsequently in mid-2020.

The HBC will also use the Triber's 1.0 'Energy' engine. Renault's new global small displacement engine made its debut in India with the Triber. But unlike the Triber, the new subcompact SUV will get a turbocharged version of it (as seen on the Renault Clio premium hatch in Europe). The Triber will also get this version of the engine as a premium and more powerful variant in 2020.

The HBC may also carry the regular engine as an option in lower-priced manual variants, to get an aggressive entry price point for the car. We can also confirm that the car will get both the 5-speed manual and AMT (automatic) gearboxes that the Triber has. But what is interesting is that given the recent spate of more sophisticated autos coming to this segment, Renault is also considering a CVT for this one

Renault India Operations, Country CEO, Venkatram Mamillapalle, said that the sub-4 meter SUV will be launched in India in the second half of 2020.

He said besides new variants of Triber, the company would launch a new product sub-4 metre SUV in the market next year. "It will happen in the second half of next year, he said but declined to elaborate.

Renault could as well concentrate on the Triber and Kwid, unless the new CSUV is based on a different platform altogether or has a different set of engines. The Triber looks contemporary enough. On the other hand, this new CSUV might eat into the sales of Triber.

The proportions look good for my eyes!
Few observations:
1. Hector like front fascia. Sleek DRLs at the top.
2. Front lights look like LED projectors. Also, we can see 3 projectors.
3. Top-end trim as the wheels are alloys.
4. Triber like dashboard. Can see the top of the touchscreen infotainment system.

If they put in first in class features, this is a hit!

All this looks good. Hope the 1L engine has sufficient torque delivery to haul a family+luggage

Oho! So this is the car I’ve been spotting in the last few months, along the NH-46 expressway. I figured it was a Renault, judging by the Kwid-like bulk and proportions. Couldn’t snap a pic as the car / cars I’ve seen go by pretty fast. Will try next time I spot one though

Upcoming Renault, Nissan compact SUVs to sport sunroofs.Launching in July 2020

Powering the Renault and Nissan models will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (codename: HR10) that’s expected to put out around 95hp. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT automatic gearbox.

Rumour: Renault Kiger launch to be pushed to 2021

It is rumoured that Renault might postpone the launch of the Kiger sub-4 meter SUV. It could now be launched in 2021.



Earlier reports indicated that Renault was planning to launch the Kiger in July 2020. However, the launch could now be pushed to next year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the generally negative market sentiment.

The Kiger is expected to be based on the CMF-A+ platform. Spy images suggest that the car could borrow design cues from the updated Kwid. It could get a twin-slat grille with slim triangular lights and tri-pod headlamps positioned lower down on the front bumper.

The Renault Kiger could get a turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine paired with either a manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
