Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

Glad to see that this is really a Renault. Spotted this car on the old Bombay Poona Highway just after Lonavala last week. A few pics are attached.

Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

Is it only me that feels a resemblance to the a-class in those tail lamps? Renault designs, as far as I'm concerned, have largely been quirk-free. I hope this turns out the same.

Would give good competition in the segment if it's priced sensibly. Even if the design turns out a bit weird, if it has enough bling features for the price then I feel it'll sell.

As Deep Blue mentioned above, I also feel the tires looks a bit too thin. I hope it's the camera angle because cycle tires on a compact SUV will look really strange.

Renault Kiger launch, on-track or delayed?

If on-track then the launch in near.

Renault Kiger's launch deferred to 2021.

Quote:
Renault is likely to unveil the concept version of the SUV in November-December, before commercially rolling it out in early Q1 2021. The company may also use the occasion to christen the small SUV, which many speculate as Kiger.

Ah. Like the Tata HBX then. A highly anticipated car getting pushed into 2021. If its purely linked to Covid19 related market state - I don't know if its the right call. Auto sales are surprisingly picking up right now and early movers sure will be at an advantage. If the delay is simply due to technical/logistical reasons and further development requirements then inevitable.

Interestingly a "concept" in December for a car to launch in Q1. I hope it actually refers to a near-production car unveil & not a concept.

Front fascia looks okayish, but the C pillar and that curve resembles too much of their Kwid. That isn't good

Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

Now that the Magnite is revealed, the Kiger looks more of a crossover than that. Overall design is very much inclined to kwid and that's not a good thing. The tail lamp design is very nice, though. I don't expect the interior to be significantly different from Magnite. So in Kiger's case also, it is all about pricing.

Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

Renault's KIGER launch delayed to Q1-2021, coming with the same engine codenamed HRA0, that will debut in the Nissan Magnite.

The exterior design will be inspired by the Kwid while its interior is likely to borrow elements from the Magnite.

Quote:
It develops 100PS of power and 160Nm of torque (152Nm in CVT).
It’s offered with a 5-speed manual and CVT options.
Kiger expected to launch in Q1 2021, with the Triber Turbo to follow soon after.
Renault Kiger likely to have an aggressive starting price of Rs 6 lakh
Quote:
It will be sold alongside the entry-level 72PS 1.0-litre petrol engine in both cars

Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

With Nissan Magnite launch, can the Renault Kiger be behind?

From the teaser it certainly looks more differentiated compared to a Sonet/Venue or Brezza/UC. Not to nitpick but the market generally ignores cross badging of market leaders but have a different view when other manufacturers attempt the same!

There is no cross badging here. Magnite and Kiger from Renault share platforms, components and engines, but their body shell is entirely different. And thats the same with a Sonet and Venue or the Seltos and the 2020 Creta. When we say cross badging, I think it implies what Suzuki and Toyota did with the Brezza and Urban Cruiser and the Baleno and the Glanza. Previous instances are plenty like the Rapid and Vento, and almost every other car from the Nissan and Renault stable.

Re: Rumour: Renault HBC Compact SUV coming in 2020

Sincerely wish Renault's Kiger will include
a) 6 airbags
b) Better steel quality
c) Better seat height and overall height of the car
d) 205/60/R16 Wheels including spare wheel
e) Global NCAP Rating of atleast 4*
f) Dashcam (like the one Citreon has on its models)
g) Typical Renault ride quality - particularly in bad roads

Just realised I was day dreaming.....
