Toyota Glanza Is Rebadged Maruti Baleno – Production start at SMC, will later shift to Toyota's plant in Karnataka.

Quote:

Production of Toyota Glanza would be shifted to one of TKM’s two plants in Bidadi, near Bangalore, once the automaker sorts out component sourcing. Such a move would not only improve Toyota’s capacity utilization but also would free up production capacity at Suzuki Motor’s Gujarat plant so that it can cater to Maruti’s high demand.
Quote:

Toyota Glanza, it will be available in Zeta and Alpha trim levels (names of the variants could be different) with the 1.2-liter K12B as the sole engine option. Like in the Baleno, the petrol motor will be mated to either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The engine produces 83 PS and 115 Nm of torque. The engine will be BS6 compliant.

Toyota Glanza will feature revised front grille and bumper to have a Toyota brand identity.

I have a feeling this would look horrible with the Liva/Etios front face although the rendered images look palatable and follow the typical Toyota design language.

Also I am still unconvinced regarding this platform sharing strategy unless both products can be priced competitively. The way Toyota has priced its recent offerings pricing may be an issue here. At 10L+ it would hardly find any buyers.

Toyota will began officially teasing the car on April 26th. Hope this doesnt turn out to be another Renault-Nissan disaster.

But... why?! Instead all they have to do is launch the Yaris hatch at a reasonable price, it is a tried and tested, reliable car.

My thinking is, that this is just dressed up as a partnership, but ultimately Toyota will take over Suzuki in some time. Suzuki needs a big brother to sustain itself as the next generation of vehicle propulsion technologies mature. In the mean time, Toyota needs Suzuki to keep its growth meter ticking.

The 2nd rendering seems more likely since it is highly unlikely that Sheetmetal modifications would be made. Lights and plastics are the main change elements one can expect as it doesn't need significant investment.

Toyota Glanza, has toyota run out of names?? I don't want to bet on what the Ciaz will be renamed into. Wonder who was the think tank behind this name and said thats an selling name we got :Frustrati

Hope, they plonk Toyota CVT gear box, with Paddle shift and 7 Airbags, just the way in Yaris. Unless there is a clear differentiation, premium or luxury, the Car might become another bad decision like Yaris.

My sister's Honda Brio went for 60K service last week. Bill was 7.5K. Labour cost was higher than parts cost.

Considering it's the same vehicle under a different name, would service costs be the same or would Toyota's be lesser?

Asking this since I saw Toyota ad saying that it was 3500 rupees for annual service of Yaris.

Anyone know the situation at Renault/Nissan with their Duster/Terrano combo?

No no. I am only comparing the service aspect. I know we are discussing the Baleno 🙂

Errr, this is a "Laura" situation, has anyone dared googling what Glans is?

That was the first thing I did when I heard the name!

Well Toyota will be less embarrassed if we compare to Skoda. Anyways it seems naming a car is such a huge and tedious routine for manufacturers. They keep coming up with kicks and buzzard !
Glanza is probably based on German word Glanz which means sparkle/glow/radiance.
